Dai Fledermaus
Both are of similar vintage. Both are of similar size. Both are similarly powered Both will almost fly themselves with a little input from the `pilot` Both are available in kit form and plans are also available for both Both are or similar traditional construction although Black Magic is a little more challenging to build I understand. So why has the Junior 60 become the favourite of the two designs? Is it simply because Ben Buckle has had it in kit form for some time and it is therefore better known? PatMc
The Jnr 60 has always been available in kit form since the original KK was launched in 1946. Although the original version BM plan was published in 1947 it was only kitted from around the late 1980's. The Jnr 60 is generaly a simpler design but most significant complication of the BM is the tailplane location which makes for much more difficult rudder & elevaror linkage. The wing structure of the later version Jnr 60 kitted by Flair is better than the original kitted by BB. Although I have a Jnr 60 IMO the BM is a much nicer looker but it is significantly smaller.
