hitec aurora 9 7ch combo

Hi all I'm full of questions and getting nervous of my 1/3 cub maiden. I just got myself a nice aurora 9 combo with 7 channel receiver. On the receiver it has what looks like a bind plug connected to something labeled SPC. What's SPC. Do I need to leave this plug in place? The instructions don't cover it. I'm putting Saturday as maiden day ahhhh.

Covered in the instructions here, it's a Supplementary Power Connection system, allows you to power the reciever circuit from a high voltage battery before a battery eliminator circuit which would provide power to the servos. Not sure what value it really is as if you lose power to the servos you may as well have lost power to the Rx.

Yes if you are powering your servosand rx with the same battery- with the optima Rx there are two power rails the 'plug' is a link between the two. If you unplug it you can plug a battery up to 35volts in to it to power the Rx only then you will need to plug in another battery or bec on the servo plug side and this will power just the servos (see diagram in manual). SPC = special power connection me thinks just leave pluged in for standard operation.

If you use the SPC function on Optima 6, 7 or 9 Ch Rx you get flight pack telemetry voltage showing on your Tx whereas you only get the voltage as supplied by your BEC if you leave the jumper connected to the SPC port.

It is more useful for Leccy fliers because if your flight battery voltage drops the display voltage will still show BEC supply voltage unless you have total battery failure - then its all over anyway!!

It also means that you can power your Rx function from a small say eneloop battery and the servos from another battery. If you draw too much power on the servo rail the Rx function does not brown out requiring it to pick up the signal again, meaning a much cleaner pick up if you momentarily drop the servo voltage too low.
