Phil Green
How much detail do you need Jack? You already know what Pulse Position Modulation (PPM) is in your transmitter. Well, CPPM is a method of combining all the individual servo signals from the receiver back into a PPM stream, so one single wire carries all the channel information. CPPM is PPM reconstructed at the receiver, rather than created at the transmitter from stick & switch positions. Why? because its easier to connect one wire to a flight controller than all the individual receiver servo ports. Another advantage with for example Frsky is that you get 8 channels down the one wire, so even a small Frsky 4ch receiver outputs eight channels via its CPPM port. You could say its an 8 channel receiver but with only 4 servo ports. Its also very convenient for home-brew add-ons, as theres no worry about channel sequencing or simultaneous outputs which can be troublesome when writing interface code. Somewhere on here I posted my homebrew CPPM mixer for a Wild Thing flying wing, theres more detail in that post if you're interested... Cheers Phil Edit: sorry it wasn't on here it was on RCMF here Edited By Phil Green on 26/04/2015 17:46:
