Novice question on motor shaft sizes, help please

Recommended Posts

I'm assembling a Maxford Greensleeves Mk II motor glider. I have a suitable motor which requires mounting behind the bulkhead (i.e. one with the shaft the other way around to normal). This has a 4mm shaft. The supplied folding prop (10 x 8) is made for a 5mm shaft.

Being a relative newbie I'm not sure if there is any way of adapting the shaft or do I simply need to buy a different folding prop?

Thank you

Does the motor come with a collet type prop adapter? If it does can you swap the collets? If not unless you have a piece of 5mm od 4mm id tube you're in to buying a replacement folding prop. GiantShark do a good range of alluminium folding props and spinners.

Re. the tube. If by some miracle you do have some the right size make sure you cut a lengthways split with a saw to allow it to grip the shaft. But to be honest I'd buy a replacement. They're not expensive.
