Steve McLaren
I am planning to be there. I have never flown at the bwlch before, so i'm looking forward to seeing what its like. Like Peter G I have booked a hotel in merthyr. It looked close on the map, but google tells me it's a 40 minute drive away!

Dai Fledermaus
We're having a week's holiday in West Wales otherwise I'd be there just to watch. Not sure which slope this was taken from, but to wet your appetite ;- Edited By Dai Fledermaus on 09/05/2016 08:48:

I would take the A564 Heads of the Valleys Road, from Merthyr, and turn off on the Rhigos mountain road. Superb view from the top of that road, worth stopping for 5 mins. This road will drop you into the top end of the Rhondda.
