Martyn Perks
Does anyone know to one of these servos for sale anywhere? It's the only one that will work with my Gy 601 Gyro in my Hirobo Freya and they aren't made anymore and the later ones won't work, as I have found out. Thanks
Denis Watkins
Hi Martyn, When you say it won't work, would that mean that the replacement is fully quiet Or is it just the gyro effect doesn't work Also Gear sets and case are still available Edited By Denis Watkins on 05/03/2017 08:29:
Martyn Perks
The 601 has a very high frame rate and has a servo especially made for it. All others are incompatible- just won't work. I bought the gyro as I already have the later version of the servo in the heli, which is the 9253, which I thought would be fine. Duh! My choice now is to either find the right servo or start again. Trouble is, I have one of these 601/9251 combo's in my Raptor and its just brilliant, hence my reluctance to bin it... Servo shop has one listed at £114, but no stock when I rang them. And yes, plenty of gear cases available!
Denis Watkins
I am on the case, awaiting an email reply from a colleague This is from the manual Always use the special S9251 servo with the GY601. The GY601 cannot operate with servos other than the S9251. The servo may be destroyed. Martyn Perks
Thank you for that.... 130 Euro for a single servo is hard to stomach.
Steve Withnell 1
There is some chatter about being able to access hidden menu's on the 601 setup so that you can change the pulse width for compatibility with other servo's. I assume this reduces the performance, but that's a guess. Very old posts from another forum - **LINK** Steve
Denis Watkins
That is a brilliant find Steve With the costs involved, it is worth a shot at altering the frame rate
Martyn Perks
Well I'm happy to report it's worked ! At least as far as the servo is now responding as I would expect it to . Don't know if it will result in a degradation of tail performance by reducing the pulse rate as instructed but it's worth a try. Thanks a lot Steve and others
Jonathan W
The servo you want is currently on offer at Slough RC for £49.99. They presently have an offer on 20 various Futaba servos. http://www.sloughrc.com/default.asp?WPG=SRCM_HomePage1&itemid=P-S9251
Dave Bran
I have two Heli's with 601's (Both Sceadu 50's with TT Redline 56s). One has the 9251, the other a 9256.
Martyn Perks
Update... alas it didn't work. The tail servo appeared to operate correctly on the bench but wouldn't respond to any kind of adjustment with the vengine running. New 9251 purchased, from the link above -thank you
