Ace
Any reason you can't bury a 4 cell AA or AAA NiMh receiver pack with the normally short lead extended by a servo extension of the required length if required? I never take mine out of sport models. Then use the simplest of plug in wall chargers with delta peak for around £10-£12. If you choose low discharge they will stay ready for weeks or months with high quality packs. Ace

flight1
There is no reason not to get 4.8v (4 cell Himh) pack and charge them as a pack with a delta peak charger, it is reliable and safe, been doing it for years and if you use LSD types (eneloop) they store well keeping their charge. there is no need to charge Nmhi batts individually . just use good makes of battery packs . as said above

Denis Watkins
They stop charging Dave, when cells are full And depending on the charger, the display shows fully charged and they beep beep
Ace
Yes, mine charge at 650 Mah then when return voltage tells it won't hold any more, it switches to a trickle 50 Mah. Red light also switches Greeen. So you can't over charge. Ace

flight1
Dave get something like this easy to use , there are may like it out there like this one and you can use it out and about off a 12v source like the car battery Also if you use the LSD types there don't like fast charging. once converted you will never go back
