gangster
ok guys just want to bounce some ideas off you. In over 40 years of radio modelling I must be one of the few people never to own a WOT 4 Now in a sudden whim I decided to build one. I have a plan for the original mk1 produced by Yesterday's Aeromodeller plans service. I also have plans for a suitable wing. The original 1970s wot 4 was not a kit but a plan pack as far as I can see Now the fus is built and I was about to assemble a wing (I have some ribs to make up a built up wing) The original had foam wings. Out of the blue I was given a complete finished wot4 wing (unflown ) wonderful until I discovered that the chord at the centre was about an inch larger than that of either my plan and the built up wing plan which are 11inch So none of the bodges I have considered seems satisfactory Cannot cut an inch off the trailing edge without the torque rods fighting the bulkhead although separate servos could alleviate this even winning a little bit on the leading edge trailing edge and fus seems a bodgevtoo far Any ideas or should I just get on and build the ribbed wing
iqon
if you did the fuz and are able to do the wings then start building again.

Keith Evans 3
Hi Gangster ,it is not impossible to lengthen the rear of the fuselage wing seat to take the wider wing .I did this mod a number of years ago and the plane flew like a Wot 4 should . gangster
Hi guys. Thanks for your input. Decided to think on it during a long walk in the forest with the dog. Both options are feasible but I have decided to build the wooden wing. Not only is the chord greater but the profile is also different so the seat will need reshaping. It will probably be quicker to build a wooden wing. Especially as against my better judgement I decided to follow the plan and put that nasty spruce longeron in
Plummet
I built one of these with the built up wing and it flew beautifully. (That is, until I was distracted, it flew too far away and I lost orientation.) Plummet
