Wasaforumite
I have an AXI 2826/12 that has very noisy bearings and needs an overhaul. Apparently, there is a kit available from Electric Wingman. That's a good thing. The bad thing is that AXIs are reputed to be difficult to take to pieces. Has anyone done this? How did you get on and what tools did you use? Hopefully, someone can help, please? It is surprising that there is very little on the web about this, there appears to be no UK repair centre and the AXI website makes no mention of service. One might think 'not good enough' considering the cost of the motors.
Denis Watkins
Use a drill press That is a drilling machine chuck, with no drill in When everything is loose, the circlip and Allen screw Just press vertically down, with suitable wood block supports and hole for the shaft WD 40 will help the shaft move
Stuphedd
I have replaced bearings on my Axis and I have not found any difference in difficulty level between them and any others . .Just clean and care and few shaped rods to drive the old brgs out . Its just worth getting good bearings and not cheepies ! cheers
sharpy1071
AXI's do lock tight screws etc in so a little heat on them lossens the lock tight. I use a soldering iron with a thin tip. I also go to the local bearing supplier for my bearings, much cheaper and possibly better.
