winchweight
that is the question? Is it a good model and is £65 inc postage a good price? What motor, esc and fan (using a 3S setup)would you recommend for this model? I am a conservative flier and wouldn't be keen on totally mental speeds.Bear in mind I tend to buy cheapish, so BRC motors, Turnigy etc etc.Can I hand launch it or does it need a bungey? winchweight
Hmmm... I have now done some research and taken some advice (thanks Grant @ foamy jets), and I have decided I am not yet ready for this machine. So disregard this thread. James Hindle
The sniper requires an olympic javelin thrower to hand lunch so better off witha bungee which is the reason I sold my unflown one on as the bungee was a right royal pain in the backside. I only have experience with the mega or HET motors in this jet but give scott a call at BRC I'm sure these an obsure clone of one !Out of curiosity why are you looking at this model is it the fact that its not a foamy ? winchweight
It is really. I am looking for something a bit more sophisticated than my Phase 3 F16 or Alfa A4. No other reason.
Dusty
Shaun HET Tucano 28"... Fly it slow, fly it fast and easy to hand launch! I have a spare new in the box. I know its not sophisticated but another HET option........
winchweight
Thanks Dustin, but I'm trying to ease my thirst for EDF while I build something in depron.
Dusty
, dont know if you have seen these guys, anyway here are some other HET EDF to feed your fettish of EDF lol-HET models

scott cuppello
Too busy getting giddy over the new EDF's that are about to arrive! .....sneaky preview in the gallery? Go for the A-7 mate.....
winchweight
Right then, tell me about the Hurricane, the Mosquito, the L39, and the J10.
winchweight
Ok then. A7 Corsair, plusAP700DF 70mm EDFDF210-9GL EDF 5200Kv (280W)HiModel 'FLY' 40A-3P, 2-6S, OPTO Brushless ESC Total cost inc delivery = £154.80Or'Panther F9F' EDF Jet with Brushless 70mm Fan & Retracts (wish the "Blue Tail" was on this deal)HiModel 'FLY' 60A-3P, 2-6S, OPTO Brushless ESCTotal cost inc delivery = £160.88So which is most fun and best value? Does the A7 setup I have proposed work for you?I'll be honest I am looking into a cheaper motor (HXT 2040 (130L) 4850kv Brushless Inrunner), ESC from Foamyjets. But also I am considering the F4 Phantom you sell as well, if it can be handlaunched.
scott cuppello
A-7 set up won't work, you need a 3800kv + 28mm In-runner or out-runner, 20mm motor will just expire on a multi-blade 70mm fan....soooo, when you put it like that, the Panther. They both have a lot of presence in the air for a small-ish foamie, just bear in mind that the Panther needs 3700mAh pack MINIMUM....500w is a lot on 3s. The Hurricane is a VQ Warbirds .60 size, with an E-Flight 60 motor, 6s, 16x8 prop, split flaps, nav lights....very scale.....and we import them by special order. Mossie is the Black Horse one, this one has 1000w of Wasp motors.....so it's very fast, as a Mosquito should be, flaps, retracts, etc.The L39 is a load of rubbish.............. winchweight
Thanks for the honest appraisal. Disappointed in the L39, as it looks great. So for the A7 are we talking this one?HiModel 283635 3500Kv (370W) 'Outrunner/inrunner' Brushless Motor. brc204I'm keen to stick with 3 S lipos. scott cuppello
Hmmm, going to pm you, yes, it would do-ish, but we are into that problem.....what do you expect from it? 3s Jet's?.....unless you are talking around 1lb in weight, they are never going to fly like jet's on 3s I'm afraid. winchweight
Ok fair enough. I'll investigate some new batteries before I commit to buy a new model. Cheers Scott.
James Hindle
if your determined to stick with 3S then you really need to stick with the jets that are desiged around a 55mm fan and go for some of the hotter outrunners around the 5400kv mark should kick out 420W in a alfa fan with the 5 blade rotor (40A)
winchweight
Thanks James, I have thought the same. So instead of buying new batteries, I bought....................... a Wren MW54! scott cuppello
Erm.....erm......erm........ok, well, that get's round the speed issue then.
winchweight
I will keep going with the edf models though, but no new ones until I have a turbine airframe for ther engine. Quite possibly going for a CorsairA7
scott cuppello
Nice choice....James won't agree, until he's flown his own A-7 that is, best looking ugly jet ever, apart from the Lightning of course, which is numero uno in my book.....was offered one for a Turbine, the wallet came straight out....until the turbine..S [the emphasis on plural] were priced.....oh dear.I know someone with the Hawk, flies really well, just DON'T skimp on the retracts, jet fuel is heavy. winchweight
Roger! Understood. The beauty of that kit, is they do the full external stores package as well to add once I've got to grips with it.
