jonathan broadhurst
Hi just purchased a goldberg gentle lady kit. I have no tools, glues etc yet. I was going to purchase these from Bagnells in stafford but I believe they are no more. I have no problem buying online just not sure who to shop with. Does anybody know of another shop in the stoke area.

Ernie
Hi Jonathan,I buy bits like that from Balsamart. Never had any problems...But, do buy the best you can afford, cheap tools don't last, and make the work difficult..I got a birthday present of screwdrivers that cost £1 each. now they are really really awful, so gradually build up a collection of quality stuff. If you want a proper list of what you need, just let me know, and it will wing its way later on todayernie

Ernie
Hi JonathanGlues, well, you are opening a can of worms here, because there are so many available.1 Cyano...a modern glue that is quite expensive, but a little goes a long way, and its very very good There are various grades from instant stick to slow, one drop in a joint, and you have fusion2 Epoxy...2 part for highly stressed joints...It varies from setting in 5 minutes to 24 hours..generally the slower, the stronger3 Aliphatic...somewhere between the two..but slow enough to allow you to move things aboutT pins, are specialised, so are from model shops..Try dress making shops for big headed pins....Wax paper, you can get from cooking shops..Or rub the plan with soap, or candle wax.To sum up re glues......1 bottle cyano from your do it yourself shop..1 pack 30 minute epoxy...1 bottle aliphatic from your model shop...If thats not possible, then 1 bottle white glue (your evo is fine) Go or it, ernie

Andy Mc
Welcome aboard Jonathan.I use PVA from B&Q, it comes in a nice big bottle so lasts a while. I normally find a (smaller) empty bottle and have some of the PVA in it (slightly) watered down as sometimes it's a bit thick for some jobs and soaks into the wood better.
