David Ormerod
Posted by David Ormerod on 01/12/2019 23:45:23: In 1976 the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force was making camo pattern evaluations.... This was one of them, applied to F-86F-40 62-7432. The camouflage trials were at Hamamatsu Air Base.

Chris Barlow
Posted by David Ormerod on 01/12/2019 23:37:29: Interesting how the fairing is missing at the leading edge root of the wing, and it's been painted with it missing too. I wonder if it flew without it too? Good progress David. Another cyano addict?
David Ormerod
I guess that notch needs copying to replicate accurately. No underside pics so will have to improvise. Cyano for temp fixing, aliphatic for the strong bond. Just working out the brake geometry tonight.

Mark Kettle 1
Hi DaveO, this camouflage pattern in the right environment would help the concealment of this model, the delay in recognising it, I'd say best not to fly it in the jungle. . McG 6969
... and if you decide to fly it in the jungle... ... at least, get yourself and install a qualified pilot who can bring up that landing gear... David Ormerod
I'm still struggling with the open and down mechanism for the speedbrakes. Edited By David Ormerod on 15/12/2019 21:25:
Chris Barlow
Just noticed that's an F-86 A from the tail fairings, elevator not AFT and the tail lights being on top of each other. (Apologies if I'm wrong) Are the air brakes on the A the same in size and geometry? (anybody)?
David Ormerod
No idea Chris. It beats my son asking me how I'm going to join the 2 half. As with the brakes, I'm working on the service hatches which seem to be everywhere down the body. Now just a nice hinge and catch to allow push in pop out action.
