David Holland 2
Morning gentlemen, it has just been announced that Paul Farne has died at the age of 101. He is thought to have been the last surviving pilot to have flown in The Battle of Britain. Last of the Few? Thank you Paul and all the other brave young men and women who fought for the freedom we have today. R.I.P.

Timo Starkloff
Sad to hear that Interesting story about him: https://www.hurricane501.co.uk/501-squadron-pilots-complete-list/farnes-paul-dfm/ **LINK** Edited By Timo Starkloff on 30/01/2020 21:05:
Peter Jenkins
Thanks for posting the link Timo. Makes interesting reading. I think his point about him being well trained and having complete familiarity with the Hurricane is very telling versus the new boys who had single numbers of hours on the Hurricane. Toni Reynaud
They aren't all gone yet. There's an old gent down the road from me who flew Mosquito night fighters with 23 Sqn at the end of the war. Brave man.
Peter Jenkins
Toni, did the gentlemen to whom you refer actually fly in the Battle of Britain and was he classed as an Ace i.e. had shot down 5 enemy aircraft during that period. That may be why you think they are not all gone yet. Did he just fly Mossies if so then he would have missed the B of B as the Mossie was only on the drawing board then.
