Callum Fraser
well, not to be ambitious. but i have yet to find a vtol model that can both land and take off as eyther vtol or normal (ie take off vtol then swap midair to normal and carry on) even then, i think that the engineering involved should keep me busy for some time.been thinking up various solutions to the problems encountered

Ernie
I remember, at an airshow at Leuchars in Scotland, with my eight year old daughter.. There was the harrier, zooming about. I said to her, this plane is going to stop in mid air. As eight year olds do, she said 'dont be really stupid dad' And then , it did, right in front of ustrainer first Callum........... ernie
Callum Fraser
nice to hear it has been done, would love to do that.Ha ha, dont worry, it will most certanly not be my first building project. i have a couple others in mind first (partly because i want to build a few first and seccondly it will give me the knowledge i need to know how to build em.) As for the trainer, I think I may ask my family for one for the xmas period. On another note, just got a Worn Futaba FF6 Tx for £25 inc delivery, think it was a good deal, im not to worried about the visual damage. Think i got a good deal there? Its perfect for starting. Now, on to getting a recciver , recciver battery and a charger.

Ernie
Hi again, just been to the local news agent in France, and found this... Text says it's called verti4 and is 1m span. It has 4 electric motors and a smooth transition from vertical to forward flight. There will be more next monthI wouldn't try it just yet ernieThere is a blog at http://blogspot.com/
Callum Fraser
humm, kinda cheats with differant motors for the functions. i mean more like the harrier and jets that utilise the same engines for the vtol as they do normal. A great site i found the other day is http://www.awatson1.fsnet.co.uk/ problem is that the guy who made the site hasnt updated since 03 and hant replied to my emails yet ill pm you my email addy, all i will need then is the servo's, charger and recciver battery. Ernie
Hi Eric and CallumI think the model has 4 motors which rotate on tubes from vertical to horizontal. I don't think there is an engine up front. I'll let you know when I get the next issue (which promises details)ernie

Ernie
Hi Callum, RX is in the post, with two spare crystals.. You need one in the TX and one in the RX as marked. The numbers must match..I'm pretty sure it's all OK, but don't send a penny till every thing is working..They are not worth that much anyway. Any questions, just askernie

Callum Fraser
small update:Just won a couple more things on ebay: 4 Futaba Servos + Extras (£23.10 inc delivery)O.S. 46LA (£26.00 inc delivery)Again, dont think i have done too badly getting things from ebay. What you guys think?
Tim Mackey
4 x S3003 servos from Steve Webbs would be about £22 - so not a lot of saving there....the tray very often gets left in the bits box - many installations require a different layout altogether. OS 46 LA @26 squid is pretty good I guess, providing of course it is good un!Well done, and good luck with your project

Hamish
Well done on your ebay purchases. A saving of £3.45 on the same type of servo is still money in your pocket to buy something else, despite the " so not a lot of saving there..." comment. Using ebay all the time now with great savings
Bruce Richards
Just be careful of ebay it is all too easy to get carried away and pay over the odds for stuff. Many times I have seen stuff go at above the high street price. Always check out what you can get it for at places like Steve Webb you will soon get a feel for where the best deals on line are. Hamish
Totally agree with you BruceHave seen engines sell for a few pounds less than brand new???????Do your homework first and get the new price to compare. Set a price you are prepared to pay and do not go over it
Callum Fraser
have been doing something simmilar, but with alshobbies rather than steve webb.. ill have a look there now, thanks.
Bruce Richards
You need to use more than one shop as your source of info because prices can vary by quite a bit from shop to shop. I have also had good service and good price form Phoenix also take a look at Inwoods models and Galaxy Models.
Chris Card
Sorry to drag an old thread back up to the top, but here's something very confusing (it confused me!). This very thread, existing in a parallel universe? Popular Patchwork Forum So be careful what you say, it might be appearing "Over there".
