chris evans 9
Hi, I am currently building a foam version Folland Gnat based on Tony Nijuhuis 's plans in RCM&E . I would like to use ready made pilots and need to know what scale they should be and and maybe where I can get them.
Tim Ballinger
Chris , real model pilots print them for you at 1/16 scale. That’s where most of the gnat builders went. Check out the provost and gnat builders thread where there’s some discussion over choice. Tim
Dickw
As Tim says, the Real Model Pilots ones are good. I use the this one for my Gnat:- http://realmodelpilots.co.uk/epages/54b61a4d-8f75-4f18-8833-03c2078eb64e.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/54b61a4d-8f75-4f18-8833-03c2078eb64e/Products/4101 Available painted (at a price) or unpainted. Most people seem to use the 1/15 or 1/16 scale ones, but I used the 1/12 scale and think that looks about right for what was such a small aeroplane. John Lee
A Clubmate did mine for me which he now sells on eBay, together with numerous other 3D printed pilots & bits: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363284387906?hash=item54956fd842:g:zB0AAOSw7gpeHE4s
