Martin Harris - Moderator
As expected, the weekend that family duties has dragged me away from the flying field is the best for weeks and at times I’ve ended up watching some TV on a channel that I don’t usually see. There’s a Wheeler Dealer show about trading up and there were flashes what looks like a rather impressive large scale (at least 1/4 scale - probably larger) Hurricane hanging on the workshop wall. Do any regular Sky Channel watchers know if the “ex-F1” mechanic, Elvis someone or other, is known in the model flying world?
Steve Colman
Marc "Elvis" Priestley was a mechanic for the McClaren F1 team for a number of years and he apparently left F1 to pursue a career in the media after writing a book about his F1 experiences. I have seen the program you mention Martin and of course noted the model in the background of the garage. I haven't been able to find any connection with him and model flying. I guess the model is just a random prop to add interest to the program.
Gavin Mack
The garage belongs to Mike Brewer who used to fly Helis and planes. Not sure he has time these days.
