CliveW
Hello, I hope you can help me. My transmitter aerial on the Skysport 4 handset has snapped and I would like to replace it. Is this a straight forward task? I think I have found a replacement aerial (£5.90) on Ebay and it looks like the base of the aerial has a female screw thread. Any advice you can provide, before I take things apart or try unscrewing things that shouldn't be, would be very welcome. Thanks
Paul De Tourtoulon
Yes unscrew and screw the new one in.
CliveW
Thanks Paul, sound easy enough - grip base of antenna with pliers and turn anticlockwise to undo.
Martin Harris - Moderator
Pliers shouldn’t be necessary as these should only be hand tight but I would recommend removing the rear casing and checking that the ring terminal at the base of the mounting screw hasn’t been disturbed - this has caused intermittent transmission problems and even component failure in the past. Do check that your replacement is the same length as the original when extended - if it’s different your range may be affected badly. Paul De Tourtoulon
if it won't unscrew by hand maybe someone opened it up and put a locknut on the end of the thread.
