stuart macrory
i was thinking of buying one and was wonder what they were like, also if the covering on the model would allow you to add weathering(graphite dust etc)

Dusty
Its probably covered in the same stuff as the 40 size, i have the 40 size Kyosho spit! The covering is shiny, so if you rough it up you should be able to work with it! I roughened up the bottom of mine and got some grey paint from warbird colours and sprayed with a airbrush! 3 months on so far so good! The guy who I got the paint from was very helpful and has all the colours you can think of and he was familiar with both the 40 & 90 size... Vinno
Sry to hijack but am debating purchasing Kyoshos 40 Spit with u/c,Dusty from your experience, would you recommend / endorse ?CheersVin
Dusty
Hi Stuart, well if you fly off grass the small wheels dont like the grass, I had to put bigger wheels on mine and leave the gear down! I might take the gear doors off and try again with the small wheels! However it does fly well and looks good in the air. I think Kyosho have phased out the one like mine which had the nasty blue on the underside? I did see some going really cheap. They have the Spitfire 50 out with both nitro and gas conversions. I guess for the price its a decent spitfire, and it flies like a typical sport model. Here's the new oneEP Kyosho Spitfire New VersionGP Kyosho SpitOn the 40 size Spit I have a 46 on board, wouldnt go less, 4s you would need a 70, a 54 hasnt got enough grunt, tried that on my Kyosho Mustang and both models are pritty much the same.Would I get it? YesI will get some pics up of mine later after I have painted it etc..Hope this helps?dusty

Neil Skull - Kyosho UK
The covering is totally different on the 90 to the old 40It is printed with lots of detailing. As far as i know it is quite easy to do some weathering etc
Vinno
is the "old 40" still avail ?
Neil Skull - Kyosho UK
I think a few shops have them still. The new ones for the 50 size engine are in very high demand as they come with splt flaps and retracts.
Dusty
Neil looks like the Kyosho guys in Germany are out of old stock and in with new, last i saw the same Spit as mine was 90euro with retracts, same Kyosho guy I got mine from is only selling the new version... oh well looks a good model (better looks than the mine) bet it flies a bomb as well as it looks!
