  1. Very Interesting! A bit before my time though! What I also found quite interesting was that the engines mentioned were all petrol at the time and we seem to be to be going full circle now with more and more petrol engines on todays market. AL

  7. Hi I use the sponges( Various sizes) you can get down the pound shop for cleaning. Get a sharp Knife and cut off the scoury bit if you wish. I have even used car sponges for bigger jobs! KR Al
  8. Thanks Graham for that post. My son commented to me this morning that somebody wanted to buy his car and didn't even want to see it or test drive it! . I thought it sounded familiar so after reading the email our friend is now a petroleum engineer in the north sea and wants to buy the car (£4300) for when he comes ashore to use it for his holiday (would have thought it would be far cheaper to just hire a car!) So - pay pal - account details, even asking for my sons bank details in case he hasn't got a pay pal account - pick up agent blah -blah - blah He/she is'now trying his luck on AutoTrader! Its a scam I said - just delete it. KR Al Edited By Alan B on 16/01/2013 18:43:48

    How windy???

I have a wind meter - I hardly use it that much mainly due to the fact I forget it. I downloaded a wind meter onto my iphone for I think 69p - it is surprisingly quite accurate to within 1 mph normally. Another option for you if you have a smart phone. KR Al
  10. Hi Richard Franks right - My daughter has lived in Dubai for about 10 years now. Only the other day she commented how exspensive everything is out there now compared to what it used to be. I have asked her occasionally if she could bring back certain electronic items and she said I was better off buying in UK as I would have decent customer service if something went wrong. Eg. for a approximate saving of £30 on a I pad I would'nt like the hassle of trying to get it back to the retailer in Dubai or to comunicate with them. KR Al
  11. Hi Alan This one has been asked several times and is in the archives somewhere. Personally I have used Carburettor spray (available at any motor factor) Spray a fair amount into a plastic bag and drop the engine in (parts) and leave overnight to soak. For the outside of the engine fairy Power spray leave for about 30 mins and scrub with an old tooth brush and rinse with water. Other guys will have lots of suggestions eg boling in a pan of water with soap powder. solvents etc. the choice will be yours! KR Al
  12. Well done Steve I would imagine a lot of time and effort went into producing the article. Very interesting!
  13. I can speak German - Vorsprung durch Technik - s'il vous plait - mon David !
  14. Hi Steve Is that the RC Plane 2 Sim?. If it is then yes it is a bit twitchy and tends to over control. You will find it easier to control the plane with your finger tips and not your thumbs. As you say its just a matter of getting the hang of it. If you scrole through the aircraft there is a mustang for free as well as the trainer. KR Al
  15. Hi Chris - I personally went for the max thrust Mustang. Its a lovely model but unfortunately i have not got around to trying mine yet. However a few of our club members have one and they love them. I could have sworn I have seen them on the uk hobbyking site now - they are a bargain either warehouse. 16. Hi Gordon Just as a matter of interest. I have flown loads of times using Specktrum AR500 rx on DSM2 and never had any problems whats so ever. The only time i have any problems with the AR500 rx is when the TX is on DSMX. AL
  17. Hi Alan My son wanted the superfast Virgin broadband of which he pays for and looks after. he was getting frustrated with after it was first installed. He has since connected. our old router to it and it works ffine and we rarely have any problems for about a year now. He always reasearches these things and he said there shouldnt be a problem with the virgin unit as it is bascally a netgear unit with a virgin badge which in his opinion is poor really for net gear. if you still get problems then let me know and he can tell you how link it up and configure it. KR Al
  18. Working fine - tried it in internet explorer 8 Safari and firefox - all working Al
  19. Hyperon Sniper X II Super 3D Aerobat EPP Large not cheap but a fantastic flyer. You would have to check out your motor specs against the recommended Hyperon ZS 3007B-24 motor. KR AL
  20. White spirit is good on sticky stuff and cheap enough. Always do a little test on a small area first when using solvents. Al
  21. Simon free for kids under 18 £9.00 for adults take as much cash as you can afford!! There is a BMFA link on the right of the page for more info Al
  22. Hi Jonnor - I did a few posts on another thread last year. I use tubes of water based/ acrylic artist paint. Its widely available - cheap - and there are a few photos of my old BAE Hawk with hangar rash and later repainted CLICK HERE Al
  23. Hi Chippy   I have had my Acromaster for about 4 years now. Good quality and flies really well. One good thing is it handles the strong winds well. It was originally bought for me and came with the suggested multiplex power train and servo's which are exspensive. If it was me buying from scratch I would install equivelent hardware at a third of the price and still get the performance.   Great Plane - I have had signal loss twice recently - DX8 problem - however even with the resulting crashes the good old Acromaster bounced well and was easily repairable   Al
