David Holland 2
I have a Horus X10 Express using FrOs and, try as I may, I cannot get the vario function to work on a GR6X receiver. I’ve had the tx for a while and tried many times with no luck. Any ideas? TIA

TIA David, as we discussed last week, I presume you've run the "Discover new sensors" routine, assuming FrOs is similar to OpenTx in that regard? Also, is the S-Port connection OK?
David Holland 2
Don't seem to have a "discover new sensors" menu in FrOs, Tim. The rx has 6 three pin connectors but no S-Port. It has an uninhabited land on the PC board for a 6 pin socket. I have very limited knowledge of electronics so I may give Richard a ring at T9. Cheers, Mate. Tim Kearsley
David, the S-Port connection is one of the pins on the 6-pin socket. From memory, I thought the Rx came with a cable to connect S-Port but I have a spare if you don't have one.
Tim Kearsley
This is what you need I believe David:
David Holland 2
Wow, that was a race! Lost a bit of respect for McLaren though, that was Lando's win. Anyway, I do have that cable, Tim, but I can't work out where the 6 pin plug goes. I have a S-Port Airlink and a S-Port Tool Kit. The Airlink has a 6 pin socket and a mini usb socket but I have no idea where to go from there.
Tim Kearsley
Sorry David, I'm talking rubbish here. The vario is built in to the Rx isn't it? Forget what I said about cables, you don't need one of course! I'm not sure why it's not working then. As I said, OpenTx requires you to "discover new sensors" which is a menu item on the Telemetry page but it sounds like FrOs doesn't have that. Sorry, bit stumped, like you!
Brian Dorricott 1
Not much help to you but have you considered Ethos on the X10 Express ? Nice OS once your used to it and I run mine as of last week with Multi 4in1 module making it a " do everything Radio " . Fairly easy to install and Ethos Suite is very useful for updates etc.
Mike Blandford
From the manual: "How to Disable/Enable altimeter function a) The factory default setting is “enabled”. b) In case you want to disable altimeter functionality bring the receiver into normal operational mode, hold the F/S button > 5 s, the BLUE LED will flash 3 times, indicating the switch was successful and the function will be disabled. (If you want to enable the function, just repeat steps)." So worth checking the vario is enabled. If the 6-way socket is not present, then the Rx should have come with a loose socket for you to fit yourself. I remember one of my FrSky receivers arriving like that, I just soldered the socket on. Only needed if you need one, or more, of the functions available on the socket (SPort, Analog voltage in, SBUS in and SBUS out). David Holland 2
Mike, sorry to be a pain, your above advice worked to get me a height read-out on the Horus but no Vario tone and only the aileron channel is working. I'm guessing the rx is faulty so I think a call to Richard at T9 and order one compatible with my X20 is the plan. Thanks for your help. Mike Blandford
The FrSky X20 supports ACCST (V2) so will bind to a G-RX6 provided the Rx is flashed either with V2 firmware or with UNI firmware. The G-RX6 also has ACCESS firmware available so may be flashed with that and then be compatible with the X20 using ACCESS. Mike
