Fanyak
I have just bought an ASP 0,52 four strokes engine and I would like to know about its quality and reliability. Can anybody of you tell me your opinion about it?, as ASP engines are not popular in my country. Many thanks.
Martin Harris - Moderator
120 and 180 have both worked well for me. Excellent starting and reliable (but I have always used an onboard glow for peace of mind as they are inverted). As far as I'm aware, the only difference between ASPs and SCs are the letters cast into the crankcases and the boxes they come in.
Fanyak
Many thanks Martin, I am going to build one Cessna 120 by Bryan Taylor but I do not yet how I am going to install the engine, probably at 90 degrees but I think that to use an onboard glow it will be the better just in case..... Best wishes.
Tim Mackey
Another vote here for ASP / SC - excellent VFM engines.
Brian Cooper
I don't know about the ASP 52F/S, but I have got one ASP 70 F/S, three ASP 90F/S, and four ASP 120F/S engines. I run them on Prosynth fuel with 10% nitro and they are all brilliant engines. Very reliable and no need for a glow-driver. I have also has the ASP 52 two-stroke engine and that was good too. B.C. Brian Cooper
Sorry about the multiple postings, but the "system" didn't seem to be responding. And then it did....... all at once. Now I can't find how to delete two of the posts... B.C.

Dave S.
I've been very happy with ASP52 & 70 four strokes, excellent engines. Only my ASP 61 FS has been less than perfect.

Dave S.
Spanner, only wish I could say the same, it has never really held tune well, unfortunately. I still use it, but can't trust it, whereas the ASP 52 and 70 were perfect.
Martin Harris - Moderator
A bit off topic but the moderator has made comment earlier in the thread - Brian, did you get the - Sorry, but you need to pass a thread id into this page.- message when you tried to post? I seem to get that when I post from my work PC (using IE) but not from my home one on Firefox...
Tim Mackey
Another reason then to use a decent browser rather than IE Seriously.... we are aware of this bug and it is on the "to do" list for the tech guys.
Fanyak
Many thanks to everybody for your opinions. Most of you think very well about ASP engines and what is better, they are very cheap too. I think someone else in my club will buy an ASP engine when they see the mine. Dave S.
Just to make my views clear...I'd buy another ASP 4 stroke tomorrow, my experiences have been very positive except for the 61. It isn't bad enough to put me off buying another.
Djay
Loveley engines. You cannt go far wrong with them, and the back up and spares availability from Just Engines is superb. I live in Dubai and they ship me the parts in a couple of days. They run on any fuel, any temperature, and go for ever. I have multiple 52's. 61, 70, and the 1.80 four strokes, and various 2 strokes. never put after run through them, never reset the valves, and they still go , the oldest being about 6 years old. The 70 is probably the best one, the 1.80 is awesome. Darryl
