Balazs Gyenes
Hi all, this is my first thread on this forum. I'm a Hungarian modeler (from Europe). I'm building scale models for five years. I built my first own designed WWI model the German Fokker M.10, Austro-hungarian name: Fokker B.I. Here are some pics and a short video: Original plane, M.10 pic1, M.10 pic2, M.10 pic3, M.10 pic4, M.10 pic5 Video The quality of the video is not so good. Ernie
Hi Balazs Now, that's really cool. I've never seen that prototype before, it's a bit like a biplane version of the eindecker. Where did you get the drawings from? Also are the crosses on the lower wing authentic, I've never seen them on the top of the wing. Great stuff ernie
Balazs Gyenes
Hi Ernie, thank you! I found the 3 view of this plane in this book: Fokker. I have this Austro and this Austro2 book too. I'm working now on the Aviatik Berg D.I plan. Also will be electric scale model. Balazs
Balazs Gyenes
Sorry I have forgotten to reply to your question. Yes the crosses are authentic: orig photo. I changed the video to a better one. Balazs
Malcolm Fisher
Hello Balazs, I agree with Ernie - it looks very much like a biplane version of the Fokker Eindecker - a plan for which is somewhere in my "must build one day" pile... For some reason, i couldn't get the video, but the other pictures came through very well. Malcolm
Balazs Gyenes
Hello Malcolm, yes I have used XVid codec, so I upload again the wmv. Balazs
Ernie
Hi Balazs, Thanks for all that information. It's a lovely wee model. do the wings warp? We need more of this sort of thing, and less plastic ARTF. I'm a great fokker fan, but I'd never seen that one before. I've got an 1/4 scale E111 on my building board just now. But, It's got a long way to go ernie
Malcolm Fisher
Hello Balazs, Thanks for that link, I've now managed to see the video. Perhaps you could be persuaded to try to get RCM&E to publish the plan. I'm sure it would be welcomed by many UK modellers. Malcolm
Balazs Gyenes
Ernie, no, this model is too small for wing warping. I'm drawing in 1/10 scale. The original plane was wing wapred. This plane was well known in the Austro-Hungarian Army. The army used 39 of this type during the WW1. The first some arrived in 1915 January. Originaly this palne was unarmed and equipped with wireless teleghraphy for artilerry liaison. I've found some armed version. Those was armed with a maschine gun. Malcolm, yes my plan was that I would like to publish this model. Balazs
Malcolm Fisher
Hi again Balazs, Can you give more details of the model - actual size and power plant? It appears to be an electric powered model and, possibly to my shame, I am more familiar with IC power, only having one ARTF electric Piper Cub. I have often thought that, were I starting from scratch, I would most likely go for electric motors, but as I have more glow and diesel engines than I have models for, at my age this is not going to happen. If you do get the plan published, I would be very interested in building the model and would welcome any advice from you to that end. I would be happy to receive direct emails from you. Balazs Gyenes
Hi Malcolm, Of course I can. so this model is the 1/10 scale of the original. This mean the wingspan 1130mm = 44,5". I'm building only electric models, between 800g and 80g. You can read here the entire building thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=995635. Ernie
Hi Balazs and Malcolm,I reckon it would make a great plan for publication. What about it Graham? ernier
David Ashby - Moderator
Balazs, a lovely model, email received to which Graham (Editor) will reply. Ernie, I'll make sure Graham sees this of course.
Ernie
Thanks David, Would it not make a great free plan? ernie
Balazs Gyenes
Dear all, I made a little changing on my model. I have changed the power resource. I installed a bigger Hyperion instead of the small Hacker. I changed the battery also. Now I can fly for 15-17 min with one pack. I put two figures into the model. These are J Perkins figures. My girl friend painted them. I'm not so good in hand painting. http://rcgroups.com/forums/attachments/5/4/9/7/8/a2471733-53-P1130324_resize.JPG http://rcgroups.com/forums/attachments/5/4/9/7/8/a2474457-79-P1130328_resize.jpg http://rcgroups.com/forums/attachments/5/4/9/7/8/a2474458-145-P1130329_resize.jpg Balazs
Balazs Gyenes
Hi all, I have changed the prop on the M.10. Now the model is flying with an APC 9x6. I think this will be the final settings. I've upload a short but boring video (no sound) http://scalemodels.hu/scalemodels.hu/Video/Fokker_M10_v2.wmv Balazs
