Nicholas Kay
Not familiar with 4 stroke engines, I am about to run in my SC52FS and note there is a hose nipple on the underside of the crack case. How should I plumb the engine up to the fuel tank? What should I connect to this nipple under the crack case?? I assume the exhaust pressurises the tank, so what's the purpose of this additional nipple?
Stephen Grigg
Hi Nick the nipple at the base of the engine is a breather, and you just have a tube exiting the underneath of the model

Nicholas Kay
Many thanks Stephen, understood and will not go run the engine.... Moderator, very sorry. Error messages suggested no post had been made. I now see I have in fact posted 3 times. Won't happen again. Nick

Nicholas Kay
Many thanks Ken. 2 x tank full completed successfully, peaking at 8500rpm with loads of smoke. Will repeat with another 2 tanks later in the week and lean it off some. Point noted, SC instructions are shocking. No details or installation information. This forum will offer the best source of help I am sure. Thanks!
Mowerman
I had the same query ref- the breather nipple. No mention of it in the (poor and sketchy) instructions that came with the engine. Fitted a pipe just long enough to clear any oil spray away from Fus'. Nice engine runs very smoothly.
Myron Beaumont
I have two Sc 52's one of which is an ASP !. If you think about it -you're pumping 8.5 cc of oily air in & out of the crankcase a few thousand times a minute. I have about 3 inches of fuel tubing attached to keep the fuselage reasonably clean .No probs !
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
I extend my breather (with fuel tube) to clear the fuz....I also find it a useful way to insert some after run oil after a flying session.....
