Martin McIntosh
I too use Eurokit gear with Robart valves and with great effort manged to force the tubes onto the nipples. You could try soaking the tubes in cellulose thinners which shoud swell them.
winchweight
Cripes! I'd have thought you'd have very gooey tubes after that! I went for heating them over a flame then jabbing them over a pencil tip, Once hardened I cut them to the required length and hey presto, they fit!Don't suppose anyone knows a source of cheap oleos? Tim Mackey
I got some reasonable ones from a guy on ebay...I am just about to email him for some more - do you want the details ?
winchweight
Yes please Tim. I need to measure up before I get in touch with him. I wonder if there'll be any at Cosford?
Tim Mackey
I can post the dimensions here, together with pictures..any good ??
Tim Mackey
Here is a picture of them think I paid about 14 quid. diameter is 1/2 inchI am actually modifying mine cos they are too long for my needs. Will ream out a solid 1/2" ali bar, approx 1" shorter, and then mill the slot for the spring retaining / end stops stub.
winchweight
This is why I am looking for oleos
Tim Mackey
The photo looks as though it already has oleos ?Nice looking bird BTW :)
winchweight
It does, but when retracted they are too long, so the wheels foul the bays. I have shortened them as much as I can, so this is why I am looking for new oleos once I have re-measured the stroke.
Tim Mackey
The guy I got the oleos from, also does ( and I had some off him )plastic moulded wheel wells. Is there any way you could just move the wels slightly further out andd fit new mouldings, to accomodate the legs u already have ? Is it foam or built up wing ?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WHEEL-WELLS-IDEAL-FOR-LEGS-WITH-OLEOS-NEW_W0QQitemZ230147978789QQihZ013QQcategoryZ34056QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
winchweight
I have wheel well liners, but the wings get too close to the wing formers, and the nosewheel will leave too much of the original hole showing and therefore needing a repair. I'll email your bloke and see what he can do regarding the oleos.Cheers.
Tim Mackey
do you mean the wheels get too close to the formers /ribs ?
winchweight
Yup. Sorry, a senior moment..... it's the Alzh... ah I forget.I have reduced the wheel size from 2.75inch to 2.5 inch as well, but it's still too much. I'll try Perkins as they seem to do a few sets, as do unitract (expensive). But i'll wait until after Cosford I think.
