Ian
Why not use an old computer power supply for your 12 volt field chargers in the workshop. They work very well with good power outputs, and cheap at boot sales and e-bay etc.
Derek Taylor 1
Hi Ian Tried this, works very well nice stable 12v o/p from a 400 watt psu, I did have to apply a load onto the 5v rail, 2 hrs work and no cost with a freebie pc being scrapped. Nice one!
John Sheehy
Any idea what amps they put out? if the 400 watts refers to the power at the 12 volt output that would be 33 amps according to Ohm's law, and that seems very high.John.
John Privett
I'm using a 200W ex-PC PSU with a 12v car bulb to load the 5v rail. The PSU has a small plate on it giving the basic specs. It reckons it can output 8A on the 12v supply and 20A at 5v. That's plenty for my old SuperNova charger.
