Peter Wood
I saw an Amigo II glider today and remember a similar model back in the sixties, that I used to crash quite often. Does anyone have a cheap kit that I can buy, and if not rekindle my youth, but at least succeed to fly that 'difficult model'Peter
Roger Jepps
Hi Peter. I have fond memories of the Graupner Amigo. I built and flew two of these in the late seventies early eighties. A real floater this one and a builders model of excellent quality. I remember it came with a transparent 1 to 1 plan overlay in order to convert to R/C. Your best bet as far as obtaining a kit is concerned is to keep an eye on ebay. Although not common they occasionally turn up. Best of luck Roger. Peter Wood
Thanks for the encouragement. I had one in the sixties but not so much sucess. I think I am going to try again, with modern lightweight R/C gear.Peter
Roger Jepps
Peter. Happy to pass on my experiences had with the Amigo. If you are lucky enough to aquire a kit you will find the overlay of the plan for R/C conversion showed the installation of Graupners own standard gear of the day,(circa 70s). I recall mine flew quite happily with excellent thermalling qualities using old Futaba M standard gear, as there's plenty of room in the fuselage. Modern lightweight gear will only serve to improve its performance further.Roger.
Peter Wood
RogerI had been offered the plan, but had decided beforehand to buy the kit of the amigo 3. A nice kit. Some friends flew the 2 at ivinghoe beacon for their Nostalgia day, unfortuneately I was working, as usual.Peter
