  1. It might be quite an old clip, there were quit lot of Harvards in the foreground, they were decommisioned and sold off years ago. Our DC3's are still flying with Turbo prop conversions, I've a feeling that our DC4's have been done as well.
  2. Seamus, you're exactly right, just shows, check facts before opening mouth! What's bothering me is that I have both a Mentor and a Funcub, the tow hook is fitted to the Mentor, but not to the Funcub, so I should have a spare laying around, but I don't!
  3. Terry, I used BRC 9gm units, they work great but you might have to pack out the servo bays a bit.The Funcub doesn't have a tow hook option, the Mentor has, but don't got flaps, at least mine don't, did you cut your Mentor wing to add flaps after market Steve?
  4. I have to agree about the security checks Steve, very OTT. One time I was carrying a Mini Cooper cylinder head, talk about an uproar! I almost missed my onward flight! I try never to have more than a 2 hour layover, because there's never anywhere to sit, no that's a lie. You can sit, but only if you don't mind dozens of people sleeping around you (on the floor, behind the seats, you name it) There are never any loungers available! However it beats flying Air France (no leg room) and BA (aircraft old and tired, not to mention Terminal5 and the attendant difficulties) The other problem is that once you get over 60 you can't sit cramped up for 11 hours straight. 5. Nah G, I still enjoy coming here, even if I am more active on the other site.
  6. All us Oldies are the same Eric, where did we find we the time to work! On the Subscriber only issue, why not ask the original contributor? If he's still breathing, that is. I know what Eric's answer will be!
  7. The thing is, the Mpx motor is 840Kv with a 13x4 prop, to my mind, to approach anything like 30amps on 3s you're going to need 2000Kv+ or go to a 6s setup. Stephen Grigg used the power setup from Mpx and was very happy with it but I don't think he measured the current.
  8. I use 2200s and 2450s, there's almost no change in the CoG
  9. Hi Andy, go for the 2200s' I find they give me 15 to 20 mins = tired and have yet to hit the LVC.With the Mpx setup you're going to battle to get the CoG back far enough, cut a tunnel in the back of the fuselage before you fit the halves together, about 50mm should do it, cutting into it afterwards is nigh on impossible. The Mpx setup up will only give you about 130watts on its 13x4 propeller, this is one of the reasons for the long duration. To get more watts you'll have to go to a much bigger prop. I've tried a 15x6, excellent power and very quiet, but, I seemed to get some form of gyroscopic precession with the big prop so took it off. A 13x8 works Ok but can be a bit noisy on full power, and it pulls the plane around VERY fast!If you're going to enable the flaps she pitches very nose up when you select, I used 75degrees. Don't deselect without getting the nose down, she loses about 20feet if you don't. All in all, a great plane, I love mine, and she bounces pretty well too!
  10. Actually FB3 using an old flight battery (you can plug it in to any channel) to do your binding is intrinsically safer, you won't get any funnies from the ESC. (I had a brushed motor burst into life with no warning. Luckily I was holding the model correctly! But try unplugging the battery while the motor is pulling at top revs!)
  11. Hi FB3, if you've an ESC then it's probable the RX supply will go in via the thottle channel, usually chan 3. I only use Corona with my 35meg stuf and find them excellent.

Maybe, when I'm 120 I'll be able to build as well as you!
  13. Worth watching though, stranger things have happened! It might just go for under 100
  14. Hi T, remember with a vacuum you only get 14.7lbs/sq/in tops, you'd have to be careful using pressure, you'll easily blow holes in the poly.
  15. Gee Tony, I thought I had problems! I hand launch without flap, I tried 80% but as you've discovered it's not really useable. I reduced to 20% and will see what happens next time out.
  16. Hi Tony, I'm using the GoG recommended in the blurb, ie 80mm aft of the leading edge. In order to get this I had to cut out the rear end of the equipment bay to achieve this! I was using 85degrees of flap, she pitches very nose up when you apply flap, you have to mix a lot of down trim and stalls immediately you take them off! I've gone back to 50degrees but have yet to test it. I'm using the Mpx setup, it's an 840Kv motor with a 13x4 prop. How Mpx can claim 23amps I'll never know, I battle to get half that! I found that with the CoG 10mm forward (by accident) she drags the tail in turns and needs a lot of rudder. It's too late for me but she does like a lot of aileron differential.
  17. Terence, After weeks of wrestling with a virus problem I followed Eric Brays' advice and got a free download of Avast! It's magic, it impressed me so much I bought the full version and haven't looked back.Tim, I also run XP with IDE drives, time was I would have to reformat and reload every 3 or 4 months, then I bought PcTools, that and Avast! does it for me, I havn't reformatted in more than 18 months.
  18. Any person who deliberately points a moving object towards another person is theoretically threatening that person. Threatening behaviour is antisocial at least and cannot be condoned. I feel your Club should tighten up its rules, and the person who couldn't/wouldn't wait for the recovery to be complete, needs to be severely censured!
  19. Hi T, I take it it's some form of high lift section, 250W will be more than enough, but check it with a Wattmeter, feel tends to be a tad optomistic! Ask me how I know!
  20. I once worked with a guy called Ian Colin Coulle.
  21. Show off! Mind you, it's well worth seeing, got any more to dust off?
  22. I use wooden clothes pegs glued to a piece of board. One vertical, one horizontal.

  24. That Alu cladding looks the biz Tim, is it easy to use? Love the Cygnet, with that amount of power you'll be doing F3A with it!
