  1. Yep i'm the same or at least thats what my Mrs says, your got RC planes on the brain 24/7 to which i say so you don't mind if i order that new model i want so bad, then come the glare and i know not to say any more, well not until i've done a few odd jobs round the house. Where would us boys be with out our big toys.
  2. Not sure what you mean mate, but if your talking about customs sometimes my parcels go straight through but another time i have have to pay about £18,which is still cheap IMO,but if you mean did my PZ Spitfire catch these planes out in the skies,no not yet as i'm still saving up my pennies.
  3. Posted by Colin Bernard on 22/02/2012 12:33:52: Definately interested in one of these - and have heard (!) that a higher fan count gives a better sound.so am also looking at the Chunge Sun 10 blader - but I cannot find any references, reviews or suppliers via Google. Does anyone have a link ? Hi Colin, not sure if you got your CS ten bladed fan unit yet mate,i got mine from another site in Hong Kong but Hobbyking sells them now anyway and have been for a while now mate, which is the same if not the exact same one as the CS one. **LINK**
  4. A bit late here boys but i'm with you on the colour scheme too,i would of rather of had the blue and yellow one like the MK1,still i'm looking forward to this one as i've still got the MK1 in the hanger,i might have to get this one as well but i think i could just go with an air frame only this time around, put my own set-up in there and see how that goes, well i'll have to wait and see when it lands on our shores.
  5. I've had a bad TX battery pack do the same but for me it wasn't to bad as i wasn't flying at the time,i tend to just use the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable AA batteries now, they are the best i've ever used and last a lot longer than anything else i've tried even lipos. I used them all the time in my DX6i for a couple of years and i only had to charge them a few times in that time,i now have the DX8 and it came with a battery pack but i don't use it,as it runs down way to fast for my liking,i brought a 4xAA battery holder of ebay and fitted that inside my TX then took the plug of the battery pack that came with it and then soldered it to the AA battery holder, simple job and only took a few min's plus the battery holder was only a couple of quid and was a perfect fit, yeah i know Eneloop does a 4xAA battery pack now but i already had some lose ones so thats why i went that route.
  6. I've had a couple of Overlander batts give up the ghost way to early for my liking when leaving them fully charged up,that was back when they use to do the 20c ratings i think there 25c now,any way i use to leave them fully charged for a week to two weeks, they didn't last to long doing that, this was like i said a couple of years ago,so now i always leave my lipos on a storage charge up until the night before i need to use them again,i try to charge them first thing in the morning before going flying now though if i can, remember if you look after your lipos they will last a lot longer. I never use more than 70% of the battery but you can get away with using 80% but i like to stay around the 70% mark, just my personal preference i guess. Oh when i said Overlander batts it was them that this happened to but i tend to think it might of happened to most any lipos,so i now take better care of my lipos,we live and learn in this hobby.
  7. Sorry to hear your supercub is grounded Rob43 but it might be a good time to go brushless as far as the motor and ESC goes, just do a google search for how to go brushless for the HZ SC,you should find a lot of links for good sites and a few videos to that might help you out, they will show you what you will need and how to go about doing it if you need it. I'll post a link so you can check out a battery that will fit the cub,you might have to buy an adapter to fit the EC3 plug or solder your own on,anyways i'll put a link to the adapter to,at the end of the day most 11.1V 1300mah battery should be ok for the cub so no matter where you buy it from you should be good to go,you might want to check the over all size of the batter just to make sure it will fit you cub though,i've already done it with the battery in the link if you go with that one. **LINK** **LINK**
  8. Some great info there Ianr and thanks for sharing mate.
  9. Don't seem to be much interest here for the Zephyr -V70,thats a shame as there are now in stock over at HK and she looks like she will go some tome plus you don't see to many planes like this about,ok i know there has been something like it before out there, but i doubt they would be as fast as this one or look as good. I hope to be ordering one just as soon as i get the go a head of my good lady (she is the banker) but i might have to do a few odd jobs around the house as i've gone over my limit for this month yet again. I'll try and upload a video so you can see it with out hitting the links,if i can't get it to work just follow one of the links in the first posting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Pws94Mifb2s Edited By Startazz No1 on 14/06/2012 12:55:21 Edited By Startazz No1 on 14/06/2012 12:57:31
  10. Just in case some of you boys might not of seen the new FW-190 from Hobbyking i thought i'd share it with you,i hope to be getting this great looking plane soon, even sooner if i can sneak it past the Mrs as i've got a sweet PSU and a few other goodies in the post from HK too. She is made from EPO foam (one of the better foams IMO) and comes with electric servo less retracts, gear doors, nav lights, split flaps and the wing span is 1200mm the length is 1000mm,so in old money that would be a gnats hair over 44 inches for the wing and the length would be just under 39 1/2 inches. It's a PNF version but from what i heard on the video there should also be a kit version so you can put your own setup in there. As this is a German Luftwaffe plane i thought i'd also tell you that HK has just brought out there new Micro Stuka,so i'll leave a link for that one too rather than go on about it too. plus there is a video of the Stuka down the page a little. If you follow the link to the FW-190 and you go down the page after reading about it you will see a good video. **LINK** **LINK**
  11. Yeah i've been keeping an eye on this one as it has ticked all the boxes for me, The Flight video shouldn't be to far off now but from what i have been reading on another well known forum in the USA,Durafly has quite a few good planes/warbirds coming out so they are trying to get all them flight videos out too. It all take time i guess but i can't see this one being to long before it goes live on the Hobbyking website,as they are normally good at getting the planes out after they have teased us on Youtube with them.
  12. Hi boys i'm not sure if anyone has already posted about the Durafly Zephyr V70 from Hobbyking yet so i thought i would, sorry if there is another thread though. She is a little bit different from the normal EDF's but thats what i like about the V70,as she is part glider part EDF,both good things in my book. You can hear how excited Scott is about this plane he really is well pleased with this one,and that has sold the plane to me,ok not completely (as the V70 has a lot to do with it too) but come on how often do you see someone from another RC company get this excited about one of there planes. Take a look and see what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKNy6aP3gCU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6RoOi8ZD4Y
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loL_VTSnz-8 Thanks for the heads up on this website Allan,as i've just watched a YT video from Bruce, his package wasn't packed at all well and he was very very lucky that nothing was damaged. Having said that most of us know what the chances are when we buy from over seas at a much lower cost,so we have to weight up the pros and cons After watching the video and then coming across this thread i think i'll be giving them a miss and stick with Hobbyking. I'll try and add the video but not sure if i've done it right but we will soon see.
  14. Great little thread IanN,i have just done the same to an old PC unit i got my hands on after first reading these postings. Just finished mine today but at first i thought it was a dud because i powered it all up and everything looked fine, until i plugged in my charger in and then nothing it all shout down, then i remembered reading that it might need to have a load on the PSU before it would work,so thats what i had to do to get mine to work but i can live with that. So thanks for all the info and links as it was very helpful and much appreciated.
  15. Thanks Biggles,i did try that but i was putting in Gateway aswell as power supply so i didn't get any hits, thanks to you i have now found it,so thanks again mate as it's appreciated. I can now get on with my build tonight.
  16. As the title says,i was reading a thread on here not so long ago about using a gateway power supply for a bench top/RC charger, now i can't find it I had it saved on my laptop favorites because i was going to use the same old PC power supply in that thread, but my laptop crashed and i lost all my links and stuff,so i need help finding the thread, i've looked and can't find it any where so if anyone remembers it or know where it might be could you please point me in the right direction.
  17. Sounds good to me Roger and i think i said i've gone for the Chunge Sun 10 bladed fan unit this time around as they are even quieter that the alloy fan units which is a big plus,i've also got an RC Lander alloy 68mm 3575kv motor on a 4s set-up coming as i want to try and put a CS 10 bladed fan in it and see how that goes but thats will be going in another model. I've just got to put the wings on my Vampire tonight and add some 0.5oz cloth and poly-c to the bottom of the fuse then i should be good to go,i'll also be hand launching my kit too thats why i'm adding the glassing to the underneath,i know it might not need it but it's a bit rough over at my field at the moment and this will help it out. 18. Posted by Christian Ackroyd on 13/02/2012 17:12:43: I know the difference and never suggested that it was a vampire. I prefer the look of the Venom.   Sorry if i offended you in anyway as that wasn't my intention and i'm sure you do know the difference between the Venom and Vampire mate,i might of worded it wrong so i do apologise Just for the record i'm more of a Vampire man
  19. Yeah i'd say someone picked out a great little plane for you mate,as it will make a good trainer plus when you get used to it you can really start to play with it,from what i've seen on Youtube this plane can really go some if you want it too, don't that that put you off though as it flies real well in slow flight too, I have the DX6i and it has lasted me well over 4 years now but it's getting a bit of a pain now because you only get a 10 model memory and i've got double that now and have swap out the models in it,it will serve you well though as it should take you a while to build up to 10 models. I'll be buying the DX8 this summer only because i need the model memory like i said above as the DX8 has a SD card slot for updates and MM. All in all i'd say your on the right track and there isn't much i can add apart from i'll leave a link to a good youtube video that might help you out on the build not that you will need it,plus this bloke has another channel where he and most of his club mates all fly your new model. I get most if not all my RC gear from Hobbyking now as they really take some beating so you are doing well better than when i first started as i never knew of HK until i come across them on YouTube. Good luck and if you need any help we are all here to help if not shoot me a private message and i'll be happy to help,i'll post my channel on youtube too as you can get me quicker on there email/message system.   LINKS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU_IEdTDOq0   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVMIAp1j6HA   http://www.youtube.com/user/startazz?feature=mhee
  20. Not sure what happened there,my last post that is, but the writing came out a bit smaller than it should have, sorry for that boys as i didn't know it was going to do that,no doubt my fault
  21. Posted by Christian Ackroyd on 12/02/2012 13:58:59: this is the 90mm Ready2Fly version. looks very nice, although obviously more expensive than the HK/Durafly version, but is should fly better been bigger. Yeah that is a sweet looking plane but thats the Venom and the Hobbyking one is a Vampire nearly the same but not quite A bit like a spitfire and a hurricane if you get what i mean they both look the same to a none rc plane person like my other half,as my missus is always telling me. There the same so why would you want two she would say then i would have to point out the difference, then she would say oh i see, when i know she still thinks they look the same, bless her. The Venom was meant to replace the Vampire for the RAF,well here you go check this link out,it will explain it a lot better than i can http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Venom
  22. Not sure if you have found a suitable model yet but how about trying he new Hobbyking HD-100 Vampire? I've got this kit on it's way to me which should be here early next week and your fan unit would drop in there a treat i'd say.   http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=64992#1135581   If not what about the RC Lander F9F Panther, only saying because thats my next HobbyKing project,Hobbyking truly take some beating in price and there website just about sell all i need in this great hobby of ours.   http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=17219   Sorry this one has a 68mm RC Lander fan unit that comes with it,but at that price i'd still get it and then your got a spare
  23. Mine left Hongkong Friday by EMS so should be here early next week and there is a big thread over on that well known USA forum some of us might go to every now and then All in all they seem to think HobbyKing has done a fine good job on this one and i can't wait to have a look at mine.   I went with the there kit version so i could put in a Change Sun 10 bladed fan unit in mine with a around a 2200KV or 2300KV in runner motor, have to go low on the KV because of the 10 blades and i wanted to try and keep the amp draw down. If you youtube this fan you can hear how sweet it sounds, one of the best i've ever heard.   Oh Hobbyking now sell the 10 and 12 bladed fan units (they would after i got mine from some where else)   Plus won't need the retracts that the PnP come with because i have to hand launch where i fly from.     Next week i'll try and post a few pictures, unless someone else does in the mean time.
  24. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 14/01/2012 22:41:24: Startazz - post removed - see PM   BEB Ok under stood and i do apologise
  25. Yep HobbyKing have been giving free stuff away since before Xmas and they are still doing it as i've just been over there today and they will give you a sweet mini/micro plane away today with your order,as long as it's over $100 which in my case seems like i spend well more than that every time i buy from them anyway oh you will have to pay for the postage on the FREE item.
