  1. Having used Solite on the fuz and Oralight on the rest in my opinion the Oralight covers nicer . My Solite is lifting in places unfortunately.
  2. Maidened on Tuesday CG at 77, but will try at 75 Weight 445g with 700mah, 3s
  3. I am at the nose sheeting stage. Initially I built the longerons right up to the engine mount/ firewall. I can see from your photo that you cut yours short. I think that this is correct. I am also going to scrap build the top section like you did . Your nose looks splendid!
  4. One month later and I am continuing to make progress. My wing sections are all built, tips added and shaped. I just have to fit the spoilers, glue the outer sections to the intermediate sections My tails are 95% ready for covering. My fuz is underway. Ply doublers and longerons added. Glue drying as we speak. The build instructions say that there are ply doublers for top and bottom as well, but they are not in the box or on the parts listing. I guess these are not needed for the elektro. Steve, did you you put in longerons 4 x 4 on the upper nose section? The plan doesn't show them but I have seen them on glider version photos. andy
  5. Good day everyone. I am late to the party. I have just started an X-Res- Elektro. No instructions came with my kit so I am winging it! This thread and another from another site are my bible. I also consider myself to have been a bit unlucky in that the trailing edges for the centre section of the wing have been CNC cut slightly undersize. Either that or have shrunk due to moisture content. I emailed Zeller but was told that it was to be expected in a wooden kit. It's only 2mm but because all of the ribs self jig it means that by the time you get to rib9 they are not perpendicular. ( bending), and rib 9 has to be true. This aside, I am loving the build. Quite addictive. cheers for now, andy
  6. Did you mention the verbal greetings that you were treated to when you spoke to the Jellyfish Safety officer?
  7. ISA members built many Limits during 2010-12. To be successful you need to build it light. as near to 6oz as possible.(for standard EX) the best ones have more wing. the fuz can be signicantly slimmed down, this gives a lot nore wing as does the obvious of building a larger wing! an extra 2" can make all the difference, allegedly! Mine was heavy and flew well straight and levell but wouldn't climb! Lifting the nose caused the inevitable tale of speed reducing, tipstall , dive into ground from height with no recovery possible. One of the ISA members has Electrickery upfront, so yes it has been done. ( Limit EL). conventional tail is easier to build than V tail. Edited By andy harrold on 26/01/2013 10:05:45
  8. I fly FrSky telemetry. just the basic beeps for low signal strength and battery. In my 3m moulded glider it it reassuring . I get the occassional beep when aerial orientation is not ideal. I have also put it in travel air type planes. if you do a poor install of the aerials it will soon let you know! It will give a lot more beeps than usual but at least you have the opportunity to fly it back to a safe landing unlike non telemetry where the first tell tale signs mat be the walk of shame! i have never had it beep for low volts. I wouldnt trust it! andy
  9. Hi there Mark, and a belated happy new year to you.  How did it go? did you win? did you knock it up out of offcuts!? only kidding, a very nice boat indeed. I hope to get back to the Gower/ Bwlch this summer . maybe see you then.  andy.
  10. Chris Foss Middle Phase, aileron version. as for power- a 4.8v rx battery !! ask someone to show you how to/ where to land and you will glad you chose one without a prop. it will thermal soar, it can loop and roll, it is a great design. and fairly rugged too. or a weswings Orion.you could even get a lekky version if you insist!
  11. I built one last year. I built it with rubber bands holding the wing on using dowels. After it crashed on its maiden(, a rubber band came off the dowel and snagged the aileron!), i converted it to be securedfrom below by nylon bolts and captive nuts .  either that or use longer dowels than I did.
  12. i have a hobbywing 40a esc , 3536 turnigy motor 1300kv and 2250 3s lipo. all from giantcod. approx 400watts iirc prop and spinner are MPX from modelspot.  i have flown one with a 4s squeezed in and a bigger motor. it goes up quicker, but not much on the way down! the GC Setup never got too warm, others have had cooling problems.
  13. I have yellow tips on a Masterairscrew 13x7. Saito 91 Believe me, it still causes a lot of pain if you stick your fingers in it! even when its at idle. Fortunately for me they weren't my fingers.!!
  14. Flew mine today at Burrough Hill. Had a great day.   Is yours still collecting dust Mr. Binnie!!!! or are you coming out flying sometime before Autumn.?   andy
  15. an uneducated guess. he didn t try to roll it. the rudder deflection varies with airspeed. at slow airspeed more being available/ needed. and he was at slow speed having departed tactically. the display is probably flown with intermitent stick shaker, bank angle in any case. very sad, I lost friends in a similar crash.
  16. i also have a flamingo to build. i have my old canopy so could draw around the three ply pieces if that helps. mine is a very old flamingo .
  17. i believe you can order direct from Chris Foss.   www.chrisfoss.co.uk   tel.  01273 452642
  18. I've bought my son a Blade MSR.if hes lucky he should get his hands on it sometime in mid Jan! as for me..... a Blizz.

  20. i have xmas day off but no leave between 1 may and mid october.i wouuld readily swop my 24hours holiday on the 25th for a week in summer! any takers.
  21. Tony, if your towline eminates from your tail any out of line pull forces , up down, left right from the glider  will be tranferred to the tug. a case of the tail wagging the dog! you cannot fly 100% behind the tug like you can in a real glider.
  22. if the hill is turbulent and not great at producing lift will adding weight help?  i flew my WT on the GO in 50kts with the Moderator unballasted.  ( the WT, not Tim) and it was excellent, but this week took it to my local hill, 45kts at a guess and it STRUGGLED in capital letters.  andy
