  1. Darren, I had the same problem several weeks ago.  Contacted Horizon and they were sending a replacement , however I was impatient as usual.  If you are prepared to open up Tx you can repair yourself.  Opened mine up and removed roller.  Spigot had broken off.  I drilled roller out and pushed a bit of 3mm push rod in, used the dremel to grind a square on the end  and bobs your uncle.
  2. I thought the purpose of the gearbox was to allow a small high reving motor to turn a larger prop which it could not do on its own??
  3. As Pete has suggested, velcro.  In addition I have fishing line looped round the fuz and a release type fishing clasp to enable  removal, just in case it does come loose.
  4. Nice video but it looks cold.  How does Vimeo compare with Utube? You can change the date by using the 808clockset programme   http://www.chucklohr.com/808/#Instructions edit Tried to use link but can get there   Last try at link     give up        Edited By Hamish McNab on 18/12/2010 21:16:18 Edited By Hamish McNab on 18/12/2010 21:17:43 Edited By Hamish McNab on 18/12/2010 21:20:51 Edited By Hamish McNab on 18/12/2010 21:24:33
  5. Gosh, David,  there would have been a super thermal.  Just in from field, clear blue skies, bit of a wind and getting very cold.  Beauty of electric glider is you can virtually fly anywhere any time.  Practising spot landings and snow gave a good crunch on last landing so took sweat bands off and put T shirt on and went home (If but only)
  6. Thanks to all.  Will need to sort out the 500Mb blocks, or find away of joining the files, however I digress. It was not as cold as it looks as the sun was behind me and I was well wrapped up.  Fingers ended up frozen but worth the effort.
  7.   Very cold but ideal conditions.  keyfob camera images, hopefully will attach.   Camera for some reason records in 500Mb blocks and takes hours to download to Utube   NOTE I have copied embeded code as instructed etc but does not appear to be working for me      OOOPs How do I remove multiple links? - Done  BEB                   Edited By Hamish McNab on 13/12/2010 21:36:11 Edited By Hamish McNab on 13/12/2010 21:37:09 Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 13/12/2010 21:43:55
  8.  Found this on ebay       If you search "ballard" you get controllers etc  Edited By Tim Mackey - Administrator on 08/12/2010 10:10:11
  9. Tim you took the words out of my mouth, what is the difference?   Did a walk test today and still receiving at 75 paces!
  10. Just to add to my previous post, just shortly after my next flight, I got a low battery warning on the Tx so possible a reduced range.
  11. Lost control of model this morning and down she came into about 12" of snow so damage minimal.  I had crept out of my range and guess it was about 250 > 300 m, so lesson learned.  Fortunately I am out in the country so no public in my flying area.
  12. Very encouraging.  I test my AR500 to 30 m and am quite happy to fly to the limits of my eyesight which was about 330m altitude for a 3m glider so the orange looks good. What range are park fly Rxs?
  13. Again thanks for the info Tim.  Will need to fly much nearer as I am out of the "park" at the moment, even with a satellite.  Will give a good range check when weather clears up.
  14. Thanks Tim.  I just cant understand why, because they are cheap, they are inferior.  I have yet to read of somebody flying out of range and hopefully I will not be the first.
  15. Fitted to my electric glider and am flying it to the limits that I would with the normal spektrum.  Can somebody explain what the size of the model  has got to do with it.  If you were used to Futaba would you have the same apprehension if you changed to to Spektrum or any other manufacturer?   Has there been any reports of Orange Rxs giving difficulties?
  16. Have recently moved from IC more to electric powered gliders from flat field.  I am fortunate and have access  to a field 10m from my door step.  Went out a few times today in beautiful clear blue skies with virtually no wind, absolutely magic, just drifting about, however brass. Very cold standing in the snow in wellies.  Got a set of skiers goggles and tried them to keep out the wind to stop my eyes watering.  Hope to compete in F5J so was practicing climbs to 200m when kind of lost sight of glider.  Pulled goggles up to find it even worse and not realising that in the cold  I had pulled my glasses off at the same time.  Pulled glasses back down and got into focus so continued to saunter around.  Hope tomorrow is the same, although I think I will look for a transmitter muff as my only problem was fingers were going numb as I am not to keen on gloves.  Anybody no of a supplier?
  17. OOPs.  I had no intention of opening a previous matter, of which I was unaware of, and only reported what I found.  Does not matter to me as long as it works.
  18. This post put the wind up me this morning.  Powered up and mouse would not move, and I thought, not again, as I had to format disc about three months ago because of virus.  Anyway changed batteries in mouse and all OK.  Jumped to wrong conclusion.
  19. Ordered on the 15th November and received this morning so cant be bad.  Both the Rx and satellite are in poly bags which has the CE logo.  Will range test soon .
  20. Yes it looks like that to me.  4 screws opens the back.
  21. Take your link back to HK.  Under files open up the files and you will see it is a CR2032. One worry less in your world.
  22. Use £lands all the time and have yet to have a joint open.  Building a glider at moment with the same glue. If somebody could explain the differences and why, I might use the liquid gold
  23. Well I stupidly tried to fly too slowly yesterday, experimenting with flaps, and she dropped a wing and down she went.  Wing broken, some damage to fuz and cowl well bashed.  Now not going to replicate but to do a complete renovation with a new wing, new cowl and total recover, might even put new bearings in the OS.  Will keep all the advise above in mind when it comes to the cowl. Had too many crashes recently and my fliers are diminishing so must get renovating.
  24. Have followed the same path as you Robin and would agree with Chris other than I standardised on Deans connectors.  The resistors you refer to are capacitors, which are to reduce sparks at the brushes.  My brushed motors ran OK without them. LMS may be able to provide or Maplins and the like. I have subsequently abandoned  brushed and gone brushless, being lighter, cleaner and I think more efficient
