Gregory Suggest you find out where your local model club is and go along. You will find a wealth of information from many who will gladly assist. What are you proposing to use the receiver for?

Sorry Paul I was not detailed enough. I can view your build log but as soon as I try to look at the photos it gives "Sorry, you do not have permission to download this attachment in this forum. Paul Tried to look at your build but your club appears not to be allowing new members as it requests I register. Am I doing this wrong or is there another way round? I have a Magnatilla and the cowl is approximately 173mm internal diameter, if that is near enough. I did not build it but picked it up for a song complete with servos and an OS40FS. Had it flying today and for the novice, as I am it is an absolute dream to fly. I can take the cowl off and give you an exact measurement if you require.

My First Build-Magnetila
Hamish replied to Stephen Grigg's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Stephen Unfortunately I can not give you any building advise but hopefully can give you encouragement. I started out with a Boomerang and whilst it looks a super model I had my reservation about its sturdiness. Unfortunately that did not get tested as it virtually self destructed, in a manner which no plane would have survived on its second outing (Was hooked up to BuddyBox). I looked around for a model that was not going to be so responsive and more forgiving. I picked up a ready made well built Magnatilla for an absolute song complete with all servos and an OS 40 FS. I have been up three times with it and it is an absolute dream for the learner. It is so stable and does not jump about all over the place. On my third flight, in total, I landed it and I have to say with the model and the hours I have put in on a flight simulator this was so easy. If you could post photos of the areas you are enquiring about I can easily measure and give you feedback. Whatever you do, do not give up on this model as all your time spent will be rewarded and more so. I have an SE5a that I have been building for a number of years now and am tying to get it finished. If this project was not ongoing I would consider the Magnatilla. -
Got the Magnatilla up today for the first time - Absolutely Magic. It was so easy to fly and was able to follow the patterns needed to get my bronze, even managed a perfect landing which cant be bad for my third time up. I can only emphasise the time spent on the simulator has been worth its weight in gold. Roll on the weekend

Just a mild chastise. How did you delete your first post today or was that an edit?

Thanks a lot Eric. Very clear

Doing a search to find out the difference between single conversion and dual conversion I came across this posting and though great. After 5o odd postings nobody took the time to answer the question! Have I missed the answer or is it just normal to ramble on and say nothing?

Thanks very much Malcom. I will leave the running in of the 48 to an expert as I wopuld not wish to damage it after all this time,

Tell us about your first crash .. I mean hardish landing!
Hamish replied to Crash dummy's topic in All Things Model Flying
I have cut and pasted this from a posting I put on the Simulator section Thanks David. Unfortunately the next flight was not so good. Coming round about 20m up preparing to land and it went straight in and smashed right up to where the leading edge sits. Instructor cant give any reason as it appeared he could not get it to respond to the transmitter. May attempt to repair but it is a major task. In the meantime I have acquired an old Magnattila which I am told will fly well. Getting a bit of TLC and will brush up well. £50 with 5 servos (Flaps now?) an old OS 40 four stroke which cant be bad. I have a 10yr old OS48 four stroke which has not seen fuel, so I am not short for choice. Got 11X6 and 12X7 props today. Any suggestions as to which? Bought a new 35Mhz Futaba FF7 transmitter as I have kind of lost confidence in the Sanwa. (Will try again ometime in the future) Excuse me twittering on a bit and I will probably get a 100 lines for posting in the wrong (?) forum -

Gutted for you. I have a Boomerang as well and it has only had 3 flights with no problems. My concern was that the fabric can easily be punctured but I did not think of wing failure. Will be on tenterhooks from now on. Cant say much more other than too late for the pub edit Speeeling

Alex Sorry if I took the wrong innuendo. What you have now put on is what the forum should be about -

Rather than coming over as a very critical bunch who may never had made mistakes, it would be far better if you made positive contribution. "yes Mathew you did very well on your first flight but there are a number of issues that might save you a lot of problems and grief in the future. Smart Alex comments like "Did I miss something?" are not positive. If you don't no and get away with it then you will continue and why do you hold it up? Think positive and give positive guidance -

Was that your first every attempt to fly a trainer and if so very good, Will need to find a field. Plenty about but with stubble and not sure if the boomerang would stand up to it. Hopefully wind down tomorrow as I will be going to a club field for training -

Mathew Are you madmech35 ? -
"I can only conclude that, as two receivers are old stock, and one is new, perhaps the encoder circuit has been altered for whatever reason?" Can you swap the receivers about to a model that you can physically reverse the servo? Edit Disregards as I just read your recent post

Just back from Keswick. Stayed weekend at Kart track at Rowrah and then hoped to stay 3 nights at Keswick. Monday was tolerable but Tuesday was just miserable and we came home, rather travel in wet. Glorious day today and am working in garage. Got a NiCad pack for my Sanwa which was specifically specified. Was provided with a pack wired for "JR" which looked the same as Futaba. Hopefully I have not caused any problems but extremely annoyed. Waiting on supplier to come back

Been on this forum a few week now and it appears I have skipped procedure. The following is in my profile "Just retired and making use of my time. Carried out a number of jobs from director level down which have absolutely no relevance to this forum. Electrical background. Have built and raced F2 stockcars and are currently involved with karts, grandson currently Scottish Champion. Hope to interest him in this hobby, more on the flying side. Have a Boomberang, a Cub, which I just purchased and am renovating an old Maracado (Only relevant if you are familiar with Marionville models). Will amend this as I go along" Have a Motorhome which will make visits to the flying field just like home.

Liam If you get it wrong, then you may cause damage. Have you a club near you as they will gladly help?

Seagull Boomerang Tail Dragger Conversion
Hamish replied to Matt Miller's topic in Build Blogs and Kit Reviews
My only alteration to the undercarriage was to fit 4" wheels and as yet to be tried. This was based rightly or wrongly on posts that suggested the bigger tyre was benificial on grass strips. I was aware of the flat on the nose wheel and will cut down hole on the servo ar Thanks again
