Another Hanger 9 blink and you miss it

I have no doubt that current flyers will enjoy using glow engines for as long as they can but will anyone joining the hobby now see glow engines as anything but old hat

I did h​ave to smile when a fellow club member saw my laser powered acro wot and suggested I upgraded to petrol. I personally did not see a dle 30 as an upgrade from a laser 70. I do occasionally see newcomers with older glow powers trainer (no doubt because they can be bought cheaply) but as soon a the new modeler fails to start the engine on the first flick the advice now is not how to operate the engine but to bin it and go electric. I ​know there are quite a few diehards on this forum who like their glow engines. But glow engines went out of fashion but are there any advantages that still might attract newcomers to the hobby to use them. ​I have experimented with all types of models and glow engines are still my prefered choice. ​I prefer 60-90 size models. I found charging batteries a bit of a choir especially with the unpredictable weather and I missed the engine sound. Petrol power forced me into larger models that started to get expensive and more difficult to store. Glow at this size model works well for me, simple to install and operate. ​I am worried that as they become less popular i will have trouble getting fuel ,engines and parts. E-flite 60 - 120 Size Tricycle Electric Retracts would have been my choice for my next project but they are now discontinued. what are the best alternatives?

I have a LiFe battery and it is this I wanted to replace. The reason being there is no reliable way of checking the remaining capacity. your supposed to work out how much power is used per flight and calculate how many flights each battery will give you allowing a reasonable safety margin. but I'm not great at keeping count of flights and would much prefer a reliable method to measure the battery before each flight hence the reason to change to lipo. you have just reminded me I do have a powerbox sensor switch **LINK** but I always thought it was a bit bulky for my acro wot

if you use a lipo rx battery what type of voltage regulator do you use?

**LINK** don smith parts set anyone? I have had this one on my dream list but would cost a lot of time and money and skill for building and flying. I seem to be lacking in all the above
