  1. Just weighed mine, it's 11.3ozs/320grams with a 35C Zippy Compact 1000mAh 3 cell lipo. I didn't try to keep the weight down particularly. I think lots of people are flying them on 2 cells but I have lots of 3 cell packs and no 2 cell ones. It flies very well, doesn't seem to have any nasty characteristics. I used the downthrust shown on the plan and I needed a few clicks of down elevator trim for level flight. I've only had 3 flights so far, all on the same fairly breezy day, and it has a bit of a tendency to balloon when it turns into wind but that's to be expected with the wing section it has. I hardly used full throttle, it's fine on half throttle. I had over 50% left in the lipos after the first two flights so I changed the throttle timer from 6 mins to 10 mins for the third flight, and I still had 27% when I landed. I didn't have the motor brake on when I flew mine and the freewheeling prop did nothing for the glide. I'll turn the brake on before flying again and that should also reduce the risk of breaking the prop or bending the motor shaft when landing, but I haven't done either so far. I notice some people are using a shaft saver (rubber band retaining the prop) but I didn't. It rolls a treat, faster to the right than the left, but obviously you aren't going to get axial rolls. It will just about fly inverted but it's not nice. Being designed for single channel it's never going to fly like a pattern ship, enjoy it for what it is, a hoot! Andy
  2. Flew my new Sharkface for the first time yesterday, it flew very well straight off the board. I've used a HobbyKing Donkey ST2004-1550kv motor, Turnigy Plush 10A esc, and 3 cell 1000mAh lipo. There's loads of power and it's good for long flight times. The obligatory sharks mouth obviously helped with the flying. Mine is 3 channel, rudder, elevator, and throttle.
  3. 388mtrs? And you could still see it? I'm encouraged by that I must say. Though the Unisens-E doesn't log data, so I would have to look at different radio gear to use it. 388mtrs was ok but of course it depends on visibility on the day. And I wouldn't have risked glancing down at the screen!
  4. Like Frank I use Multiplex gear and have recently purchased a UniSens-E from SM Modellbau. It doesn't have a GPS but it does have a vario and altimeter. I recorded 388M with a 2metre glider on one flight last month. I took a photo of the transmitter screen when I'd landed.
  5. Posted by Martian on 29/03/2017 14:54:04: On the 27 th of March at ten to nine at night I ordered a Piper J3 70inch kit from Hobbyking in Hong Kong it was dispatched the same night and picked up by DHL courier and arrived at my door at 2pm today ,it's just ridiculous I have no grounds for complaint and the kit is excellent I'm furious that I'm unable to complain about my experience with Hobby King at all Don't worry Martian, the usual HK knockers will soon chip in with something to moan about
  6. Keep you eye for an update, the Profi has just had a further update which has added Multiplexs Safe-Link which allows you to lock a Rx to specific model memories and they've advised that this is coming to the Cockpit Sx. Ooh, I like the sound of that, something else to stop me being an idiot!
  7. I've flown with mine a lot now and it's excellent. I don't find it as nice to hold as the previous version (C2, the new one is C3), but it's fine. You can control the speed of flight phase switching so you might be able to use that to slow a servo, depends on what you want to use it for really. I expect MPX will add the feature before too long. Rather off topic, I recently bought a Unisens-E sensor from SM Modellbau, it's excellent combined with the new talking tx. As well as the usual current, voltage,mAh consumed etc, it measures rpm and has a vario and an altimeter. As many of the readings as you want can be displayed on the screen, and also spoken if you want. I've been flying an electric glider and usually have it speaking mAh and altitude, and sometimes have the vario beeping away as well.
  8. Posted by Dave Wilshere on 22/03/2017 21:42:49: I think the BMFA should be applauded for finding such a perfect site, with good access from North and South. Yes Western members might find it a painful journey, but it was never going to suit everyone. Flying sites being lost, its a guaranteed place to fly. I'll support it and visit when ever I can. I think it will be well used and generate enough income. We need to get behind the BMFA guys and give them as much support as possible, its easy to criticise, much much harder to act. I have not found anyone negative yet, we are 1 1/2 hours from the site and people around me can't wait to visit. Well said Dave, I heartily agree. It's a bit of a trek for me but I hope to attend an event there before too long. Andy

  10. Not a Viggen but I've got a SkyAngel Gripen. Not sure they still exist and don't think they did a Viggen anyway. The Gripen flies pretty well for a tiny foamie, although more power would be nice.
  11. That looks like luxury! We just have a field where the farmer let's us mow a patch. I took this yesterday, quite a good turnout considering it wasn't the best of conditions. I was flying this: This was the first flight a couple of weeks ago: https://youtu.be/g-fRrMS0h2k Edited By Andy Palmer on 20/02/2017 15:45:59 Edited By Andy Palmer on 20/02/2017 15:49:25
  12. I've bought a few things from them, all without any problems and delivered quickly. My most recent order was placed late on Saturday 28th Jan and it arrived on Thursday 2nd Feb. Never had to ring them but I'd be amazed if someone there doesn't speak English.
  13. Posted by MattyB on 16/02/2017 11:14:43: Posted by Guvnor on 15/02/2017 23:52:17: It's over. Horizon UK shuts end of March, all staff going. If true there is a certain irony to that. So many times those with Spektrum radios have told me the reason they would never go with FrSky is an absence of UK based mail in support (fundamentally incorrect, but many are unaware of the services offered by Premier FrSky dealers like T9, plus spares are readily available for repairs at home too). Now with this change that is exactly where Spek users are themselves; mail in support is going to get a whole lot more expensive and time consuming now international shipping is involved. I suspect Mike Ridley is about to get a whole lot busier!
  14. I'm not a Spektrum user but I notice Staufenbiel in Germany have recently added Horizon Hobby to their website header: **LINK** I've purchased Multiplex radio gear from them several times and can recommend them, great prices and service.
  15. Well done Ted, both for writing on here and making the appointment, that's two steps in the right direction. I'm sure we all wish you well and will support you in whatever way we can in the future
