  1. Shame as anyone trying to buy the Flick 3D I reviewed in the July mag will soon get fed up with no responses and go elsewhere? Hope the problem is not too serious, but they are loosing business while its like this. Rob
  2. I tried to order a couple of things online last weekend, showed in stock etc. Got to the checkout and won't process any payments at present. Tried calling several times during opening hours and just answer phone. Emailed/messaged through their website, no response. Complete mystery until I read this thread - why not just put a notice on the front page for a while? Save a lot of wasted time, misplaced hope and disappointment? Order still stuck in the cart, its difficult to resist shopping elsewhere with no news/update as I need the parts! Rob
  3. Not that big a price drop to get to the combo offer...airframe £80 engine £65 and maybe £6 delivered? I've had Irvine engines amongst others for over 15 years and class them up there with OS, and they are even made by OS in batches now! I scratched built a blown up 40" Midi Jazz (free smaller Mini Jazz RCME plan for a 15) with an Irvine 'Heli-headed' 36 and Irvine purple tuned pipe back in the day, and it went like a stung wasp. These engines are superb any which way, even if these particular ones are in fact air-headed heli engines with the shorter threaded cranks. Just bear in mind that competition Fun-Fly models were pretty much the starter for 3D..... Rob
  4. The combo deal is pretty hard to beat. Rob
  5. Any Chemists out there that can confirm the benefits in our application of Tygon v Nitrile v Viton in a Petrol environment? Or do we all just need to replace our lines every year like our merican cousins? Cheers Rob
  6. Update - all done and ready to go now! Shame it work tomorrow! Rob
  7. I flew Andy's Jive for the photos in the review, he'd put one tank (all 5ozs of it) through the Irvine 36, had a couple of flights in the air to trim out and check the run-in etc. and I was totally happy to pop into a hover at head height in my first flight on it for the photos. I don't even think he was quite expecting that as I normally don't even hover my Limbo that low! It felt much more stable than my Limbo does with the wing plates on, or maybe its because it wasn't my model.... Anyway I bought one for myself a few weeks ago including the Irvine 36, got around to opening the box properly at Noon today and I just have the Rx and Battery to install for it to be ready to fly. Need I say any more? Cheers, Rob
  8. Its proper Tygon you want for general use and the larger 1/8" ID size is best for beyond 30cc, some say the black rubber Viton tubing is the most chemical proof and best for clunks etc. £1 or so /foot is not bad...? Rob
  9. 15 flyers down at our frosty patch today, from 10 until the last few left around 4.30. We did have to turn the gas fire down to low when everyone was in the club hut though as it got a bit too toasty....
  10. Setting off now, car full of toys.... xcliar has WSW 20-30s clear of rain see you there! Rob
  11. Just hope the dry windy spell coincides with daylight for long enough.... Sleds are on charge already! Rob
  12. or use a bigger hammer! they can be a really tight fit, just hit it straight on...or you'll bend it! Rob
  13. Posted by Lee Smalley on 05/01/2012 12:28:32: Rob it sounds like a plan, a sled with slightly longer wings than the F20 or R3 bit it must have crow or spoilerons at a minimum and a proper elevator!!! no AMT !! oh and i do offer my services to test the prototype, and i promise not to charge too much.. you are a mate after all !!!     Hi Lee, No problem at all with you doing the Beta testing mate if you're up for it - I know how you like to beater up your models!!!   I think conventional layout is the way to go with flapperons/spoilerons and elevator, will do some pondering on the size and transportability etc.   Need to start a new thread - sorry to hijack this one! Cheers Rob
  14. Yup, and I still have some of those bits from Frank's R3!!! (Plus the R130 that arose like the Phoenix from the ashes!)   I couldn't make it the other day and was gutted to miss out on one of the few really big days we do get each year to fly our full-on lead sleds... a proper lead sled is quite a coveted and specialist model on our shores and represents quite an investment in the aquisition and setup costs and also in the time and skill involved in the building phase to complete it ready for sledding.   Once it gets much above that comfortable 50mph on the edge even some of the slippy epp racers only just about manage to cut it. I even found my 80oz lost-foam Jart struggling a bit on my last Orme trip in 85mph.   I think we need to come up with a Sled for the Orme (Slorme?). A Sled-Lite if you will, something thats a bit more affordable and a bit easier to build than some of the more Fermin specific designs from the US, that are also within reach for more slopers and even more specifically tailor made for the Orme scene itself, and of course any other slopes that can hack it that we have here in the UK.   I think I'll be doing this anyway in 2012 but any interest and encouragement from anyone here will only spur me on to do it sooner! This won't be some money making venture - just something for all the grounded WildThing guys to move on to without too big of a step....   (and still postpone the purchase of that first mouldie!)   Cheers Rob     Edited By Rob Sten on 04/01/2012 23:36:32 Edited By Rob Sten on 04/01/2012 23:39:21
  15. Glad you're ok mate,   could have cropped the photo a bit more to spare us all though....     cheers Rob
  16. 3rd try posting so shorter!!!   Compatibility....   Reviewing E-Scale Seafire - flies great at recommended 90mm CG Took 6v NiMh on engine box and 8ozs lead on engine bolts to get there.   Great flyer at around 9lbs, 65" span.   Cheers Rob
  17. You might get more use out of a boat this week anyway mate!   As you're the TMFC CD for 2011, I'm guessing the scale comp is going to be added back on the agenda????   I'd best get something done about that then.....
  18. Ballast provision is a definate must!!!!   You'll be lost without it as soon as the wind get beyond light and scratchy!    I mostly have at least half in, you can fly without fine if you must, but it is worth the extra little effort of fitting a tube to take a pound or two to realise the full potential of the moulded Luna glider....   Lee - did you get the lot in that day or about 2/3rds?  And why haven't you ordered one yet?
  19. I sometimes find that the 1st person vids tend to be a bit 'you had to be there'   so if you were and did make it to the top on Sunday, then you will probably appreciate this more than others - this is the raw footage - sorry no time this week to learn to edit etc.   Managed to upload a couple before reaching the weekly limit on vimeo   Typhoon clip got cut short unfortunatley - not sure if it was the battery going or the velocity in the dive that it couldn't cope with!!!!!   cheers Rob   will have to get the bus and beach runs again next time!   http://www.vimeo.com/14367754   http://www.vimeo.com/14363568
  20. Posted by John Privett on 16/04/2010 17:43:05: Posted by Basildon Biggles on 16/04/2010 02:51:30: This is my weapon of choice.  Though not for sloping.   Do you mean you use something else for sloping?  Or that you don't go slope soaring?  Because it doesn't read high enough for sloping!
  21. Worry not, Timbo will fix it and some how fit in a link to a Wildthing in no time at all!!!   Kidding mate!     think the explorer 1 or 2 is a value buy though...and does the trick.
  22. This ones works quite well up to around errrr, 130mph????
