    Aged 17, always aimed for RAF, Jet Pilot, shot down on grounds of eyesight and MOD cuts - No Pun intended - Was absolutely no way they were going to get me in   So rethink prompted Army and now aiming for HouseHold Cavalry, and if all goes to plan, I should be starting Phase one October 16th Penultimate interview next Wednesday!   Haven't been bitten by the "Building Bug" yet, and a very keen 'leccy flyer However, whilst working on the fieldwork side of a Horse Riding stables, and using strimmers, tractors, mowers, am slowly coming round to the Petrol side as i am leaning how they work!     Hi,   Recently purchased an Art Tech Diamond 2500, -Absolutely Great- however, when I went to set it up, -and after some serious trial and error, a fault was traced to the supplied Y-Lead. So Get a new one? I thought so but it seems that the connectors coming from the servos are the male side, and any Y-Lead on the market has a male connection as well, so useless!   This is the lead off the servo     This is the lead off the supplied Y-Lead       Probably every Y-Lead in the world   Am a being a complete numpty or have I got funny servo connectors?   Many Thanks in Advance   Paddy       @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

    I went from full size gliders to models (still keep up full size though) and I think thst it does give you an invaluable idea of how it works. I did some solo aerobatics and then you really can yank and bank round the sky (gotta love the feeling of 4 times your own body weight!) The principal is exactly the same, as you say, just the orientation and not having a reference point for speed (none of this ASI nonsense for me lol!) Paddy

    Hi David Had mine about 6 months, at first i thought the motor was asking for problems with it being ever so delicate, but so far my fears have been unfounded. The System that works it really is top notch! This was my second real model purchase and it flies phonomenally well, not only the top motor, but being able to ROG Takeoff really is a party piece! As for performance, on a very flat day, i can manage 30mins roughly on a 1500 3S Li-po.  Which is fantastic, but on a good day in thermals, she'll be away for ages! Not sure about slopinging it, as i havent the courage to lob it off the south downs (yet) but videos and reviews look pretty good  The Model is very easy to rig / De Rig and spends all the time its not in the in, in its orginal box, (very handy in a car which back seats don't fold down!)  For the money it is deffinately worth every penny!  This is some video of it near the end, as you can see, she really looks the part!  Hope this helps  Paddy    Edited By Paddy Fidling on 27/09/2010 21:17:12

    I have been using a DX5 for over a year now with an AR500, and it has performed flawlessley. My question is, am i doing it wrong? I use one reciever for 5 different models, taking it out and pluging it all in again, but now i want to step up to the DX6, as has a computer and the added features would be of tremendous use. I wanted to know if i need to buy different recievers for each model as the ModelMatch description on the Spketrum website isn't much use? Has anyone had much experience with this? Many Thanks in advance Paddy

    Hi, FInished reading the first part of the review of the Aurora 9 and the photos have confirmed my suspiscions... I am in love with the look of this radio!!!  As a mere DX5 user, i am looking to upgrade and want to give a radio with a computer a go... As a "yooth", and beginner to programming would this be easy to use? I do find myself able to work out most computers as a bit of a "techie" if i do say so myself.  I don't really have the budget to buy say a DX6 then upgrade again in a couple years time, as i will probably want to get my little fleet of models onto the same ttype of radio and stick to it.  Any suggestions would be warmly appreciated  Cheers  Paddy

    Hi Howard, Gliding is a great part of this hobby, and I myself have an St Models DG1000 (Love it!)As a full size glider pilot (Practising for Bronze XC endorsement ) A very good book is 'The Glider Pilots Manual' by Ken Stewart. This is for full size gliders and covers a vast area, but it really does help with thermal centering. AS for a Figure 8, I would say that thould not be productive, as you will be flying in and out of the the lift and sink. your best bet is a circle. when flying along, if the glider is a light foamy one, chances are if there is good lift, the thermal may try to turn the glider and suck it up" as it were, so you should turn with the glider or if it is heavier, the thermal will try and push you out, indicated by a raised wing, and so you need to turn against it.  Hope this Helps Paddy

    Very Nicely Done! She looks a real beauty in the air! I Have an L-4, 'Bout a 78' Span, Built from some tricky belgian plans and looks almost as nice as yours, just covered in a fabric.  Had one try to fly her, and found the motor was far too strong, and in my inexperience failed to ease (just bunged power on to be fair) the power on and did not use rudder to correct! But she is ready to go again at the next oportunity  Congrats Paddy
