  1. For all the above reasons, and some, I recently re-standardized my fleet (and bags of lipos) from Deans to XT60 connectors. Super simple to solder, and (as long as you keep the + wire on the + pole) you can't plug them together the wrong way.
  2. I will be visiting the UK this coming January. Flying into London first for a few days, than a train to Manchester, and from there we'll fly back home. Can anyone recommend an RC shop in either city? Preferably Manchester; so whatever I buy, I won't need to carry on a train as well as a plane... Looking for things like covering material, CA, odds & ends that often need the amputation of limbs to pay for shipping. Plus a nice vintage kit, if I see one... Thanks!
  3. Right, I've taken the plans out of the mag, and put them in a nice clean plastic folder. Come the glorious (or not) day that my Stevens Aeromodel Skybuggy gives up the ghost, I'll build the Puddle Duck...
  4. It depends on several variables; among others: 1. What model? 2. Where? 3. What surrounds your flying/landing area? 4. How good do you think you are? 5 How good are you really?
  5. Posted by Paulo Peres on 18/04/2018 00:20:39: Hello TWS, My model has an engine on the 1200 kV class with a 1300 mAh battery. The first flights were performed with 2/3rds of the recommended throws, no expo and no d/r set. Take-off can be done at 75% power and hardly any hand thrust. A nightmare: very, very twitchy. Every tiny movement puts the model immediately on a 90º (or more) bank and as it has no functional rudder, starts diving to the ground at an alarming rate. Yet, on the third flight it hit the ground and the engine bulkhead came loose. ... Sounds tail heavy?
  6. A bit late, but you can get them (and the plan) at Outerzone https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=8886
  7. Posted by Rene Wallage on 02/02/2018 13:28:23: Tried to maiden today. So they say not to take picture of your model pre-maiden. It'll jinx the maiden flight. Well, I busted that myth! As I was alone (mistake, I know), I launched myself, at full thottle. Before I could get my hand on my tranny, she'd sort of looped and crashed behind me... I had balanced slightly nose heavy, and checked the CG before launch, so it wasn't that. Is the 3mm reflex realy necessary? Minor damage. If I had CA and kicker with me, I would've relaunched within 10 minutes. Hopefully next week, with someone else launching, both of my hands on the tranny... NB. Motor shaft is bend... Just ordered a new one. Repaired the rest of the "damage", such as it was. Ready for re-maiden, as soon as I have received and replaced the shaft. Probably won't be flying next weekend anyway, as there is an F3F competition. Just when the high winds are gone, I find me praying for them to come back (westerly please)..

  9. What kind of throws are recommended, apart from the 3mm reflex?
  10. This is what she looks like inside...
  11. And now I'm waiting for the rain and high winds (yes, we get those here in the winter...) to stop...
  12. veeeeerrryyy careful use of a heat gun will take care of that.
  13. Starting to get somewhere. Did a crap covering job. I slightly widened the fuse so I can get my sausage fingers in there, leaving very little would exposed to stick the covering to. 20/20 Hindsight, I shouldn't have done that, or should've made the wing center board wider. Oh well, she'l pass the 7 foot rule... Edited By Rene Wallage on 23/01/2018 10:22:01
  14. I've sprayed a couple of coats of rattlecanvarnish on my fuse. Now, glue fuse on wing and than cover, or cover and than glue? Decisions, decisions... Edited By Rene Wallage on 14/01/2018 19:48:00
  15. I did a mock up, to see where the bits and bops go. Surprised to see how far back the lipo needs to go to reach the CG.
  16. I have the same problem. My prop will not clear the cheeks, so I'll just chop of the front of the cheeks. From what I understand, she's a bit nose heavy anyway. I hope to shape the elevons tonight, so I can trial fit everything and see where the innards go.
  17. Now would be the appropriate time to insert Monty Python's Four Yorkshire men...
  18. I started of with a Unicorn EPP flying wing, than went on to ARF's, and now I have a mix of ARF's, kit build, scratch build, wood, foam, etc...
  19. On second thought, and after further trial fitting, I'll make a new, 5mm wider fuse. (A friend of mine left the hobby and donated all his balsa stock to me...)
  20. Did I mention I am ill while building? Well, I made a mistake. Instead of 0.4mm lite ply doublers I used 2mm. Initial thought, no big deal. But it is. No room for my Emax 2212... I'll need to sand it down...
  21. It's been written that you can build the Blitz in one evening. Well, I'm ill at home, so my pace is not optimal. This is how far I got after one day...
