  1. I would reiterate what BEB has said. We, at one time had to decline FPV flying both on account of the wishes of our site owners and the fact that we shared our field with full sized aircraft. We also, in opening our list to new members, felt that were could not accept any more members flying jets. So far as number of members in the club is concerned, we found that even when we had close on 150 members, it was always the same dozen or so that flew regularly. The reason for this may have been that many members belonged to other clubs and only came to us for the use of our tarmac runway, a facility we no longer have due to our losing our site to the developer.

  3. Giant Cod must have had an excellent relationship with the postal service then. Most of my items came return of post, which from China is amazing and much quicker than HK manage.
  4. It is with great regret and much sadness that the Rolls Royce Hucknall MAC announce that the Electric event advertised for 30th /31st May 2015 is Cancelled due to the loss of their flying facilities at the airfield at Hucknall which is currently under development for housing and industrial units. The club committee are actively seeking an alternative venue for the club within the wider Hucknall area. The airfield at Hucknall, whilst not as famous as such places as Farnborough, played an important part in the development of Rolls Royce's piston and jet engines. If it is remembered for nothing else, then let it be that it was here that the Rolls Royce engineers put a Merlin in a Mustang fighter and gave the American Airforce an aircraft that could fight it's way to Berlin and back in support of the daylight bombers .
  5. Just needs a nice carrying case to go with it Tim.
  6. My mate has recently bought the e-flite Apprentice and is getting on well with it. He got the shop to replace the Dx5 Tx with the latest DX6 which caused a slight problem solved by downloading the latest apprentice instruction book. We were amazed to find that having spent 30 minutes in the air with the help of an instructor, there was still 30% left in the battery, so endurance is not a problem. The stabilisation system varies from full to nil in 3 steps using a 3 position switch on the TX. He quickly got the hang of flying with the stabilisation switched on so the instructor switched to the next setting which caused an initial shock, but he soon got used to the extra control movements it gave him. In fully stabilised mode i understand that he has successfully taken off and landed so it appears to do what it promises on the tin. My only observation on the Delta Ray is that it is smaller, lighter, has less power and a much smaller battery than the Apprentice. I believe it also steers by asymmetric thrust on the engines rather than a rudder. As such, my instinct is that the Apprentice represents the main stream of model flying.
  7. Only Spektrum. I have two Orange that I won but have never used.
  8. Thanks for the info gents. Looking at the dates and times, I appear to have been searching for information just in front of it being released. Looks like they recommend the same charger as the DX8.
  9. The new DX6 does have a charge port once the Lipo is installed, but there is no indication as to which is the correct charger. Horizon appear to be issuing items in advance of information or listing on their web site. Where did you get your photo from Paul, as the Horizon sites I have looked on say photograph to follow. 10. My neighbour who is new to modelling has just bought a DX6 along with the Spektrum Lipo, but no charger came with the Lipo or information on charging. Information on the net seems very sparse, as is the DX6 handbook that appears to only cover installing the Lipo. Has anyone come up with any answers to this. The new battery includes a charging jack but we do not know if it requires a Lipo Charger or an ordinary generic charger as per DX8 and 7s.
  11. I own up to having gone to see the Brooke Bond chips at the kids matinee at our local cinema when I was about 8 (A very long time ago) I won an album and a full set of cards, though I cannot remember of what. My BB aviation album still sits on my bookcase.
  12. Chris Peers Fairy Firefly roars by at the Rolls Royce Hucknall MAC club's 2014 Scale and Jet event.
  13. Rolls Royce Hucknall MAC member Derek Martin's own design, scratch built Heston Phoenix at the club's 2014 Scale and Jet event.
  14. Thanks Terry. It was indeed a great weekend, and perhaps you may see more photos later, as Alex Whittaker visited us on the Sunday and took copious numbers of photos too.
  15. Rolls Royce Hucknall MAC has just held a most successful Scale and Jet Event this weekend and we would like to thank all our friends and visitors both old and new for making the event such a success. The weather was very kind to us which contributed to the success of the event and it was all nicely rounded off by a flypast by the Batlle of Britain Flights Dakota which closed the event.
