  1. Posted by Ian101 on 25/10/2016 11:09:50: Thanks Terry. Only flew for about 3 minutes as there was a very slight breeze. I think it needs no wind at all to really enjoy it. Just needed a little down trim, but otherwise a short but good maiden. Having only built depron stuff, this proved to be a little fiddly, but enjoyable. HI Ian, I thought it might be like that but horses for courses. Looks great and ideal for those lovely evenings and occasional light wind days! Be great to photograph against the late evening sun. Well done. Enjoy. Terry
  2. I'm taking advantage of the right to silence in case I incriminate myself LOL!
  3. Well done Tony - be great to see it in the air!
  4. Fascinating Max and very pleased that you shared this with us on the forum. A great achievement! The photo helps us to appreciate the enormity of what the team achieved. Terry
  5. Posted by Danny Fenton on 24/09/2016 18:50:30: Master of scale, can't even follow a plan, sheeshhhh. You are always in trouble Terry Cheers Danny LOL!
  6. Anything to help the 'Master of Scale' LOL! I was late to the table for dinner and have been castigated! Don't worry Danny I can deal with it! Terry
  7. Well done Jon! Looking good. Best of luck with the lightening process. Terry
  8. My Chippie will be finished Danny - airframe stored at present but another Winter approaches..... The BT 83" Spit would be tempting with a long lead in time....... Terry
  9. Well done Martin! Showing my lack of progress up! LOL!
  10. As a self confessed 'new age eginista' I welcome you back Phil with pleasure! Nothing makes me smile more than a happy glow engine purring away. I suppose it's the difference between steam (glow), diesel (petrol) and electric (well electric is just electric isn't it......) only one genuinely stirs the senses doesn't it? You never know as us IC builders get more numerous and the 'word' spreads might eventually get a regular feature in the mag to properly replace the sad loss of Pete Lowe's column............
  11. Well that was nice news to start my day today! Well done Danny - looks lovely! I'm sure you'll sort the u/c out with your usual high standard! Terry
  12. Well that certainly has the look of a Varsity Tony - coming on very nicely indeed! Terry
  13. Bill - can't argue with that - be interested to see where the COG is at the moment. Obviously the COG will change with the differing lipo weights if the mid point of the lipo isn't on the COG. Terry
  14. Well done Bill! Sounds like you had a good time. If the COG is a bit rearward is there room for a 5s or a larger capacity 4s that might give you longer flight times and a more pitch stable Turby? I thought I had weighed my accumulation of airframe, engine, prop and pilot at sometime but can't find it now. I think it was about 8lb or so. We'll see. Terry
  15. Bill - great pilot! Did you knit him yourself LOL! Thanks for the extra pics. I would think that a a 4s 2700 may bit a bit under the ideal but as you've proved it does fly and I would guess that it could be described as flying in a scale manner but not a lot of grunt to get you out of an unintended scale maneouvre? Good to know the slots are effective. COG is pretty much on main spar. On the plan it is in line with the front suspension strut fixing on the wing bottom. Bernd - looks like we'll have a race to the finish over the winter then! Terry
  16. Nice looking model Bill. Mine hasn't progressed since the last entry due to competing demands ( how often do we hear that! LOL!) It will be finished but it is not going to be a lightweight. How much does yours weigh with the lipo in place? What power system do you have with that 4S? My gut reaction is that the Turby would be a 5S starting point. What do you mean by the length of the prop - what prop length and pitch are you using? Mine will be finished partcularly as a friend is expecting it to be finished as one his brother used to own LOL! No pressure there then! Terry
