  1. Posted by cymaz on 07/09/2016 22:05:49: Flew the Wot at Much Marcle under the "LMA trainer slot". Behaved its self impeccably. After the show closed it was just myself and the Wot with Niel Tidy flying around together doing circuits and touch-and-goes. Model flying heaven in the company of a real gentleman. Bliss + That's sounds just great Cymaz!
  2. Well done John - my 90% built airframe is still on the to do list but being retired I never have enough time! I guess that should read I don't have enough time management LOL! I do have a large BH Chippie in the box too but that isn't intended to prevent the DB Chippie being finished as that will be a more personal aeroplane. Terry

  4. Posted by Terry Walters on 06/09/2016 18:53:22: My rides were all the dayglo schemed Varsitys Tony. That is apart from the one at RAE Thurleigh which was the Blind Landing Experimental Unit (BLEU) in mid to late '60s - that was an exciting and interesting ride LOL! We each had a landing up front in the right hand seat while the pilot did X wind landings hands off!!

  6. Yes I did it a few years ago Cliff with a decent movie projector - it was fun but the graphics at that time didn't really have the quality to be enlarged to that extent! LOL! Also using your Tx in quite gloomy conditions doesn't help!
  7. Thanks Kevin - very interesting
  8. Wow! - Brilliant pics - thanks a lot WF! Terry
  9. Colin- good decision - sometimes you just need something like a foamie Cub to relax with - belated happy birthday too! Kooka - some say these Cubs didn't exist but I found this pic: Can you spot it! LOL! Nice scheme I've got a 1/4 scale Sig Cub to build and it will be the same scheme.
  10. Thanks Jon and Cymaz - much appreciated! Hermes Moth it is then! Re the throttle response on the bottom end - yes i did have to richen the carb to get the transitiion so you are, not surprisingly, spot on Jon! LOL! Will try the 2 second delay but I'm generally gentle on the throttle unless something drastic has just occurred! Thanks again will keep you posted. Any news Mark and Rocker? Terry
  11. OK - a few pics of the upright instal of my Laser 80. Following an email exchange and chat with a very helpful Jon Harper at Laser's I was encouraged to put a 'sports scale' exhaust on the end of a flexi pipe - I know it's on the wrong side of the aeroplane but it it's representative only and it's a lot more difficult to get it over to the correct side and past the carb! At the moment I have not put any exhaust sealant at the joint of the flexi and the 15mm ali tube. The flexi pipe extends about 6 inches or so into the ali tube. I was not convinced this would work. For the first run I fixed the ali tube at the rear of the cockpit hatch using the hatch bolt point and a commercial 'P' clip. The clip is rubber (not silicone) lined and I wondered what sort of temperature it would withstand. Also, when all was set up I became aware that the tank height (or rather lack of LOL!) was much too low with the top of the tank about 2" below the spray bar! Pics below: So I took it outside convinced that I would have to change to an inverted set up and filled it up! I opened the carb to full and put my finger over the venturi and turned the prop over. On the first turn the fuel came through! This both surprised and encouraged me. Guess what - started first time and ran fine!!!! The sound is a little more harsh than with a silencer but quite OK.! I'm running on a 'Laser' mix I prepared myself with approx 6% nitro and 11% synthetic oil in line with Jon's recent advice. The pipe temperature was not bad when the engine was running and only a slight smell of hot rubber was noticed. After the engine stopped the pipe was, for a short time, hotter without the prop wash acting as a heat sink for the cylinder mass. Me? Still in shock but at least I know it works and I can keep the front fuz outline as near to scale as it can be! Now - should I put mastic sealant into the joint between the two part - flexi and tube?? There is no 'blow back' evident but it is just a push fit. A big thank you to Jon and others for help and encouragement. Terry     Edited By Terry Walters on 20/08/2016 15:59:56
  12. That was quick Cymaz! I'm not the best flyer but I do enjoy flying the Wottie and I fly it more than any other aeroplane in the hangar and it makes me smile too. The French guys at my club love it too and are always asking questions about it. It gets a bit humorous when I try to tell them the name of the designer Chris Foss as a 'Fosse' over here is the cess pit!! Best of luck for next w/e with the weather - the WOT 4 should fly very well. Terry
  13. Lovely aeroplanes and great vid- thanks Pete.
  14. I've got one the same as Percy's and it is a great labour saver in the workshop. I've even cut 12mm ply on the standard blade but took it slowly but it did it in a much faster time than I could've cut it with a handsaw LOL! Really like it and would miss a lot. Can't see what I need a more sophisticated bit of kit for - other blades are available to make easier work of different materials. Terry
  15. Well done Andy - fullmarks for perseverance - enjoy your flying!
  16. Very nice Tony - I really enjoyed my flights in the Varsitys at Topcliffe. Don't forget the astrodome - I recall looking out the astrodome during a bit of a storm - wonderful memory! Terry
