Info on the Fiat Falco bipe please ......... -
This has probably done to death but the threads i looked at were a number of years old, maybe there is something new to use since Clearcoat is no longer available? I am refurbing an old model and giving it a new coat of acrylic paint, i have some Rustoleum clear lacquer spray here but not sure if that will resist the fuel on the painted covering. I don`t want to get into a two pack type system that requires specialist breathing equipment, i just want to stick on a B&Q type mask to keep something less lethal out of my lungs. Anyone had some success with something that is easy to use and easily available in the UK?

YT International Aichi Val dive bomber, lovely model, flies great. 81″ Span fitted Zenoah 26 petrol mag engine, just add RX and battery to fly. Good condition apart from a crack in the canopy and the cowl which has multiple engine holes cut in it and could do with re making/repair hence it is not currently fitted to the model. Has some weathering done on it, looks the part in the air, has flaps and a bomb which is not fitted in the pictures. MAY SWAP OR PX FOR A WW1 MODEL. £320 Would sell as airframe only for £170 if you wanted to fit your own servos/engine. Pick up from Spalding in Lincs.

One of my long term projects in waiting is a 1/4 Scale Blackburn Monoplane that was built in the late 1960`s, it needs re covering and refurbing, what is on it is all torn and feels almost paper like? Obviously i want to re cover with a fabric like material but the cost of a Oretex or a Solertex type material on a model this size is prohibitive for my budget on this model. In the old days it would be doped nylon, anyone got any experience with that, where is the best place to obtain it, how is it fixed to the airframe before doping etc? Are there any alternatives at reasonable cost? Thanks for any advice from those that have.........M

Gosh Alan, you are right, looked at 3 view drawings of both and you are correct, i shall be asking for my money back from the seller 😅. Makes it even rarer as a modelled aircraft! -

Thanks, it is a bit of a show stopper, pictures don`t do it justice, there is so much scale detail in the cockpit, all the instruments are hand made with brass rims, the pilots seat is a scale wicker one. I will be happier once i have got the first test flight out of the way, i have added a fair bit of lead to the nose to make the balance look better, it seemed marginal at best although the model looks as though it has done a fair bit of flying in the past. Rather nose than tail heavy, i will remove it bit by bit in subsequent flights. -

Just finished fettling this old plan built 76" span Airco DH2, was hoping it would get airborne today but the model wouldn`t pick up enough speed on the take off run so i aborted it. Turns out the pusher prop was on back to front, only found out when one of the club members checked his pusher prop at home, in my defense i refitted it the way it had come off the model when i stripped the engine to sort out a stuck valve. To prove it here are a couple of pics to show the serrated marks on the back of the prop, there are none on the other side. I have reversed it now so will run it up tomorrow, all being well i will try for a test flight again tomorrow. -
I am working on a model that has a SLEC tank in it, the tank is a perfect fit for this plane, the model hasn`t been flown for several years but still has half a tank of fuel in it. Due to the complexity of this plane it cannot be turned upside down to drain the tank once in use, is there a way to modify the piping etc to make it drainable at the end of a days flying.

As in other parts of the country by the sound of it, dull and overcast day but no wind today or for the next few days by the look of it. Went to the strip mid afternoon but still managed four flights on the Magnatilla before the low light levels stopped play for the day. Will be back tomorrow with a different model, got to pack those flights in while the weather is still with us............ Scarf will be added to the Maggi pilot tonight..

Following Andy`s helpful post i clicked the opt in box on the BMFA portal yesterday afternoon and lo and behold had an email from the CAA this morning issuing me with a Flyer I.D and confirming my already known operator I.D. Thanks to the BMFA for getting it sorted that quickly.

Many thanks for the quick and concise reply Andy, will pop over to the portal now.........M

I am sorry, i am still confused by all of this, i have not had a BMFA email and i passed my A test long before 31/12/2020, do i need a flyer i.d and if so do i have to do the online test? I am not alone asking this as there was a discussion with another club member yesterday who has had the email but also passed his A many years ago and he was asking me if he now needed to do the online test? I have no problem going and doing it if i have to but am not going to bother if i am not required to...........

Am i the only one that has not had an email on this from the BMFA?

Sounds very similar to one of the clubs i belong to.......... -
Piper Pacer, 78″ span plan built with SC91 Four stroke and all servos (Futaba 3003). Add rx and battery to fly, excellent condition and very light with a nice running engine, lovely flyer but thinning out a few large models to make way for a couple of winter builds, may consider px either way on a WW1 Bipe/Tripe. Pick up from Spalding in Lincs, more pics on request. £210

A couple of us at one of the clubs i belong to have been discussing exactly that Ron, inter club fly ins with Warbirds etc, that is something we have actively taken part in this year, Flair fly in, Best of British Buckminster and the recent Tibenham Fly in. We have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the larger array of models and chatting to other `enthusiasts`, if we stuck to our own clubs most of what you see are the same Riot/Ruckas types which seem to fly great but have no appeal to me as a model. I`m not poo hooing them as their owners love them but i enjoy turning up with something out of the ordinary and like to see those types of models which the Fly ins more often than not have in abundance.
