  14. Here is the absolute best Guy to talk with, great service and backs the products he sells. I highly recommend Stoney: UK BASE at STONEY CNC STONEY CNC, Penylan Barn, Hardwicke, Hereford, UK Posted by Shane Sunday on 23/01/2016 14:05:13: I know a lot of you are like me and prefer to build your own. Perhaps your skills on a band saw are like mine and pretty rough making all your template just a little off. Perhaps like me you want to get on with the build and couldn't be arsed catting all those formers. Also like me you have a few brain cells and can figure out simple computer program techniques. I've wanted a CNC machine for so long it hurt and doing my searches for the exact thing I wanted was tough, mix that with my budget. The stepcraft machine is so versatile with add ons and it's ability to be adapted for 2D, 3D. laser cutting, 3D printing, foam cutting and much more. I saw this to be the machine I wanted and it came in various sized that could suit whichever budget I had saved for. Sure there's a learning curve as with everything. Also not everything that glitters is gold! But if you'll bear with me I will over the next few days go through my trials and tribulations so far with the machine. The good mad and the ugly. I'm at work now on my lunch so I shall update more tonight but suffice to say in a couple short months I truely didn't know how I managed without one before.
  15. Has anyone experience with Resistance Soldering where you only heat the area you wish to solder and no other? They are expensive but look like they would be great for model work! Description Resistance Soldering -- the Easy, Professional Way to Solder This will be one of the most useful tools you'll ever purchase for model building. It will save you countless hours and make soldering a far less tedious and difficult task. How it works: Just hold the electrode to the part to be soldered and depress the foot switch. The power supply passes a safe low voltage, high amperage electrical current through the part, instantly heating it to soldering temperatures. Apply solder, then release the foot switch. The bond is complete -- in just seconds! The heat is generated only in the workpiece, so other pieces you've already soldered won't fall off. And since you dial-in the amount of heat you need at the power supply, you can solder everything from the tiniest etched parts to heavy castings. A resistance soldering unit concentrates heat at the joint, so it will heat larger work than will a conventional soldering iron of the same power. Use for soldering power feeds to model railroad track (the fast, pinpoint concentration of heat won't melt nearby plastic ties), brass trestle construction, turnout fabrication, rail joining, brass scratch-built items, ship model railings, fittings and more. Works on any material that can be soldered. American Beauty brand made in the USA to heavy-duty industrial standards. Order your high-performance resistance soldering outfit today for the fastest, easiest, cleanest solder joints you've ever seen. Complete Resistance Soldering Outfit includes 100W, 120v AC power supply, single electrode handpiece, clip lead, and foot switch. A 220v AC version is also available. See #85075B below. 19. LeoPosted by Pete Willbourn on 23/05/2015 17:20:21: a friend of mine was involved in one of the initial trials of such a weapon , they apparently used lots and lots of 24 dc volt lorry batteries,( thousands ) , This was to produce the necessary enormouse electromotive force. Unfortunately the test building was a steel shell , On firing the building collapsed and looked like a vacuum formed cover of the apparatus , It took 3months to dig it all out and examine the hardware , Magnetism can be very strong !! All personel were safe inside a bunker a large distance away . cheers Pete that was a bad day for some Engineers I;m sure but it sure was funny! Leo
