  3. Posted by Jon - Laser Engines on 07/07/2020 08:05:45: How big is it? The clue is 1/5 scale mercury 9 cylinder engine required

  5. Posted by Richard Clark 2 on 06/07/2020 21:40:47: Posted by flight1 on 06/07/2020 21:04:00: Posted by Richard Clark 2 on 06/07/2020 20:31:49: It's crazy expensive. Remember half the price of 'road vehicle' petrol from a petrol station is the duty and the VAT on that duty. Aspen isn't sold as a 'road vehicle' fuel so there's no duty and therefore no VAT on the duty. And basically it's just 'low sulphur' petrol with almost no additives so it's no big deal. A total ripoff. Not quite aspen is subject to 20% vat but no duty, and the actual usage cost compared to glow fuel is a lot less as the petrol engines use a lot less hence the cost per flight is much cheeper than a glow equivalent , plus you got to pay for quality you never now what you a re getting from the pump these days!! ohh1 and there is little or no mess bonus I know it's subject to 20% VAT on the 'end' price but my point is that the the end price doesn't have the approx 50% fuel duty in it. My local petrol station is ALL low sulphur fuel and the price is much the same as everyone elses (I've never heard of the name on the sign and the pumps but it all comes from the Esso refinery twelve miles down the road). This Aspen stuff is three times the price of road DUTIED fuel but has zero duty. . So six times the price of undutied fuel. If you are prepared to pay that price, fine, it's not as if we use much. I was just pointing out how high the price is. yes i agree should be cheaper but supply and demand dictates Edited By flight1 on 06/07/2020 21:49:34

  10. well i have used diatex 1000 (which is the original non glue backed version) and I found it to be very good and was podering on getting the dicov to try myself, the diatex is defently more stable than solartex and lighter if painting too.

    Radio

Posted by Paul Marsh on 22/05/2020 12:22:03: I use Hitec, Futaba and Spektrum, also Tactic and been all good sets. Did have Taranis, but even I couldn't get round the logic, could not even reverse the throws on a basic 4ch model and Found that to reverse, you altered "weight" whaaat? does not compute! Was about to throw the TX over the hedge and smash it. I don't want to look at Youtube every time I set a parameter up. So I sold it last week, as never used it. Spektrum and Futaba are the main ones, as Hitec don't do radios any more, as does Tactic, though the Tactic set is brilliant, pity there was never a larger set made. thats false well you don't use weight to reverse your servos on opentx you go to the out put (servo) page and set throws movement etc on that page very easy ( you were using the mixes page). pity you did not download the manual or ask some one on here very easy once shown , also there is a wizard to set up basic models which comes up when a new model is set up / indicated. Also these day there are lots of good reliable Tx's makes out there multiplex, radiolink(ripmax), flysky(PL18) , Jumper T18(multiprotocol), you take you money and choose one to suite yourself Edited By flight1 on 22/05/2020 13:31:33
  19. Posted by Martin McIntosh on 19/05/2020 19:16:10: Thanks for the replies but nicht spreken se Deutch. It was twill weave cloth, about 180gm or lighter that I was after. I now have my latest crop of moulds done with what I had/could get. If you go to the top right of the screen and click the german flag it will all magically turn to British and English. use R@g many years ago(25 years) were good then and still have a fantastic range, was a lot cheaper and you couldn't get it here then especially the range of top end stuff.
  20. Well that's £24 + vat, a good laminating resin can be had else were for about £22inc for 1.5 kg. like don't forget that the pacer do laminating and glue versions which have additive added to make it stronger so can fill gaps etc I am looking for a budget epoxy glue supplier for 5 min and 30 min, i have noticed that the prices really have gone up. ( please don't suggest poundland it is a recycled/remanufactured epoxy glue and not as strong, no does it bond as well compared to known makes like pacer etc

  22. with such thin wire you have proberly burnt the flux away before it could do its work with a 40w iron and also make sure it's claen no coating like the others have said. You can not beat good old tin/lead solder though.
  23. Posted by john stones 1 on 08/05/2020 12:52:11: My comment on Nicola was purely on her leadership and messaging, now pick a bit to attack, and don't put your words in my mouth. The fact that they have higher death rate proberly does reflect on leaderships control of the situation , saying what one want's to hear does not deal with the situations at hand, even though the words might make us feel better for that moment. HOld on! Hold on! i've mentioned politics , i will mute up and cower in the corner with my bad spelling
