  1. Congratulations to David Ashby for not including a single multirotor article in this month's issue. Well done sir. Oh, and the new layout is agreeable too.

  3. Fingers crossed the weather holds for this weekend!
  4. Jon, is your reply to Phil, or myself?
  5. Posted by Phil 9 on 03/05/2017 18:32:38: will any of them take a laser engine? Only if it's vibration free, quiet and able to swing a near scale multi blade prop.
  6. Posted by PETER FRANCIS on 03/05/2017 17:20:52: Actually the point that I was trying to make (rather clumsily) was that it is impossible to achieve the weight as advertised. That is true of many ARTF models I've encountered over the years. Staufenbiel/Horizon Hobby are nothing special in this instance.
  7. In answer to the original question I would suggest that there is only one category, we are simply 'model plane' flyers. To my mind the term 'aeromodeller' means someone who models anything aero related (including helicopters, jets, gliders, autogyros etc.), including static display plastic kits, hand carved display model aircraft et al. We should simply be happy that we're privileged enough to be able to indulge in this joyous hobby which ever way we choose, and have fun with our toys until it's time to switch off the transmitter for the very last time, at which point it really doesn't matter what we were called. Morbid? Maybe, but that's the reality of the situation.
  8. Posted by Keith Simmons on 27/04/2017 20:31:32: You can't have a good landing after a bad approach. I beg to differ.
  9. Posted by cymaz on 27/04/2017 20:13:22: My instructor always said," a good landing starts with a good approach". A good approach starts with a good circuit. So, who gives up doing rectangle circuit practice as soon as they've passed the " A" test? Also practice touch and go circuits. It's great fun if two or three of you do it together.....it makes sure you don't fluff your T & G up. Rectangle circuit? Fine in theory, but not always necessary, desirable or even possible depending on the weather conditions and/or topography of the site. When slope soaring or flat field gliding, you soon learn to keep your options open and improvise if necessary.
  10. A quick answer for a fixed wing club model is thus: Timing: Auto Cut off Voltage: No less than 3V (3.2V is safe). Soft start: Off Brake: Off Hope that helps.
  11. I agree, Aerobertics are very good to deal with and DPD are a brilliant courier, but then they are a German company and as a consequence well organised! I've also had good service from Staufenbiel and T9Hobbysport who also use DPD.

You Hope. See HH thread I know, from nearly 4 years trouble free service with many orders. Can't fault Staufenbiel, although now HH are involved it'll probably all go down the pan!

  14. I find the best covering for EPO to be Fablon. It can be sealed in place with a very low heat using a covering iron with a cotton sock fitted. #1 on the rotary scale.
  15. No offence meant Andy.
  16. Posted by Andy Palmer on 15/04/2017 09:57:16: ................I lasted about 5 seconds before I gave in and used the elevator!
  17. IMHO the plan requires no modifications, and yes, the sides are 1/16".
  18. That looks a very nicely executed model Peter. It should go like stink with the Cox on his snout!
  19. Here's mine. I know it's only the foamie version, but the scheme would easily translate to a larger one.
  20. "Is traditional building a disappearing art?" No, the manufacturers of ARTF kits are busy building hundreds a day.
