Maidened the Extra this weekend, got a glitch on the aileron which almost piled it in, cut the throttle and glided in. ALso flew the Extra slim twin and p47. -
How much have you spent on modeling in 2020?
Paul Marsh replied to Paul Marsh's topic in All Things Model Flying
Not spent that much, mainly because there is nothing really new to get and as said, no swap meets or shows , yet. I want a new Spektrum radio, but all out of stock. Though bought quite a few items off Hobbyking, ebay and classifieds , mainly engines, and some from model shop. The biggest spend this year was a new car and upgraded some hifi bits, the Subwoofer alone was £2000, but once these are all bought, how much else can you get? -

Went on sat, to buy a few things. Really is the best laid out shop in the country. As you can see... -
Found out that another model shop, Whitchurch Models is closing. Martin mentioned he wants to close and move on. Shame, I've only started using him the last 3 or so years, but the shop is very well laid out and organized. Another shop gone... This hobby is dead...

Cat .25 I built one years ago, and sold it, foolishly, but the lad wanted it really bad and saw it fly at a show and paid me £100 for the airframe only. As I got almost all of them, until I built a replacement, saw this. will do until I get the plane and rebuild one. At least the set is complete... The red one was the one I sold. Wonder where it is now...? -

The engine I got was from UK and as we're still in lockdown, Amazon and ebay are the only things I'm using now. Also I had a £20 ebay voucher on that engine, as it was £109 and a £20 voucher took it to £89. Will buy the SWM UK version when the shop opens again as don't like using mail order unless there is no other portal , prefer to buy in person or not at all. A said, the UK version is different and as a engine collector will have both to drool over ... -

Force .52 . Steve Webb models sells them, though this one wasn't as it was only £89 from ebay, delivered, and I don't think the engines in SWM are this colour. if they are, then we'll see when I get to the shop. -

Force have just brought out the 52. Looks quite snazzy. ordered one and should be arriving soon. Already have the .46, so hopefully there will be more models arriving... -
You have to buy expensive 100c plus pack, i've been using goo quality 60 c plus packs and most have puffed up on edf's. still ok, but now use them on lower power applications to extend their life. Probably Optipower seem the go to pack, not cheap, but the show pilots use them and seen them blasted in a electric model, and when they took them out were still ok.

I have a spare sheet. It'll be £299 plus £30 postage...

Go for Colour Laser, toner lasts much longer and will not have the problem of nozzles clogging and page per page cheaper.
-
Luckily I've got a good stock of IC engines and aircraft to keep me going for a while. Next year, when the shows start up again and the swap meets, might get some more. Think 2021 will be the same, or worse than 2020
