  1. Nope, sorry, Matty. I don't understand anything from your above 2 posts except for the advice to store somewhere between 3.75-3.85V/cell. But then what is upsetting me is that I thought we were aiming to store at a particular capacity in mAh. when my battery checker shows either 51% or 36%. After my first charger dis-charged to 51% I connected the same battery to my second charger and, after approx. 35 minutes, it had dropped the capacity to 36%. I did not make a note of the voltages. Should I simply ignore the capacities in mAh and concentrate on getting somewhere between 3.75-3.85V/cell ? Ian
  2. I have 2 of these chargers, bought at separate times. When using my battery checker, I see that the older one "stores" at 36% capacity whilst the more recent purchase stores at 51% capacity. Which is correct and is it important to store at a particular capacity? Thanks, Ian.
  3. "...He judged UK society and for whatever reason found us guilty. That says more about us than it does about him..." I am not sure what point you are making here, although it seems you may be suggesting there is some justification for this idiot's actions. I think you should clarify your meaning or you may be about to lose many friends on this forum. Respectfully, Ian.
  4. For the first time, I also did not receive a free gift when renewing my subscription. Back in October/November I renewed my Print+Digital subscription and sat back to wait for my free gift. When it had not arrived after some time, I telephoned and was told (rather shirtily, I thought) "...you don't also expect to get a free gift when you are getting the magazine at a discounted price, do you?..." I assumed that, since I renewed on-line, rather than using the magazines order form, different prices were involved so left it at that, even though I did receive a free gift for the last 4 years without showing a free gift code - there is nowhere to enter a code no. when renewing on-line. However, I now realise that the prices are the same and am wondering, again - Why did I not receive my free gift ??? I want one. Who do I contact to get one?
  5. On Sunday evening I placed a small order with them which was acknowledged by them for 1 or 2 day despatch. On Monday I placed another small order with them. And this Tuesday morning I realised I had forgotten something and placed a third order with them. I knew that this would entail 3 lots of carriage charges but what the heck... This lunchtime I have received emails from SLEC, and from Paypal, telling me that I had received a refund. Yes, having spotted what a forgetful so-and-so I am, SLEC have combined my 3 orders into 1 shipment and refunded 2 lots of carriage charges. Great service. No wonder SLEC are at the front of my go-to internet shopping list. Ian
  6. Thanks Tim and Peter re your info on small control surface gaps. Ian
  7. John, could you please explain best way to achieve no (or very tiny) control surface gaps. Many thanks. Ian
  8. I have 2 of the RC6-VSP (not the "touch" jobby) chargers and they work just fine. Very easy to use. Neither of them has the internal resistance meter as advertised - or if they do, I haven't noticed. If I were to drop one and break it I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Ian
  9. Frankly, yes. I didn't think it seemed overly difficult but, for me, it did seem a bit too involved. A picture of the tail feathers ready for covering put me off. Sensibly, I'll never get the thing built though I am sure that dedicated builders, experienced or otherwise, won't find it too much of a problem - so don't let me put anyone off. It is your fault that I put my name down in the first place. Your photos at the start of this thread had me drooling and I got carried away. Ian
  10. The Warbird Replica website links to a Hurricane build log. Having just skimmed through this, I am afraid that, sensibly, I will have to withdraw from my commitment to purchase a kit. Good luck to the rest of you.
  11. "...if Richard Wills, the proprietor of Warbirds Replicas, will produce another batch of kits for £140-£150, he's got my money! I'll go further, I'll even send him a deposit! How much would you like Richard?..." At 63" wingspan, what's not to like. I'm in. Ian
  12. Could I add to Nick's questions, please:- What is "packing tape"? Trade names and where to purchase, please. The only packing tape I know is the thin brown stuff, about 75mm wide, which the missus uses when wrapping parcels. Thanks. Ian
  13. I thought the kit-built Wot 4 required no downthrust and no sidethrust. Ian
  14. I like the sound of your "super strong bumper". Can we have some build photos showing how you put it together? Many thanks. Ian
  15. NBF - yes please. I am interested. Ian (new owner)
  16. Hello Mike. I have a few of the Hyperion batteries you show in the photo above. I wanted to buy some more but can't find them listed anywhere. Where did you buy yours? Great review - I'm tempted. Thanks. Ian
  17. Contact Wheelspin Models - out-of-stock but still listed **LINK** Ian
  18. David, as it happens, I have a pdf file of a Hi Boy (Series 2, 3-4 channel trainer) wing profile. If you PM me your email address I'll send it to you tomorrow afternoon. You're quite right - its semi-symmetrical. Ian
  19. Mel - not yet, but I'm hoping to. Ian
  20. I have just ordered what well may be Oliver's last Fugly. I don't like its appearance - it is, indeed, f.ugly. Oliver has got its tongue-in-cheek name spot on. However, the concept behind it is absolutely brilliant. You take all the gear out of a foamie wot 4 or foamie acrowot and use it in the Fugly. I wrecked my first foamie wot 4 then bought a second, intending to use the first for spares. You guessed it - I now have 2 wrecked foamie wot 4s and have since moved on. The Fugly is simply a stupendous idea for recycling their old gear which, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have got round to doing. I downloaded the instructions, as you do. You would be AMAZED. I have never seen such good instructions - an absolute master class in clarity and careful thought. A massive amount of care and attention has gone into these instructions. The Fugly was to have been the first in a line of models. It really is a crying shame that Oliver is unable to continue. Ian
  21. Oh, I don't know. BEB. I've quite enjoyed having a rant and getting some things off my chest. Ian
  22. I believe that, at some point, the Americans actually officially changed the spelling of certain words i.e. color for colour etc. I don't know the history of this but, if it is true, then perhaps they made other changes, also, and allowed the missing preposition and burglarized, and so on. Personally, I don't mind Americans speaking americanese. What I dislike is British lads and lasses stepping up to the plate et al. What would be wrong with stepping up to the crease? It would of had exactly the same meaning, innit? Ian
  23. I believe Robert Peston speaks as he does either because he hasn't prepared properly and is giving himself time to think or because he thinks people are interested in what he is saying so he spins it out to try and make himself sound important. Either way, the arrogant pig gets right up my nose and I refuse to listen to his performing. I_a_n
  24. Mine is actually in C:\Users\Ian\Documents\Radio Control\Taranis\SD Card on my PC and not immediately in the Users folder as could be understood from Martin Phillips' Getting Started guide. Also slightly different from the guide, there are more than 2 directories on my SD Card in the TX. Both EEPROM and FIRMWARE are directories, not files, and then there are 5 other directories ie SOUNDS, SCRIPTS,MODELS, LOGS and BMP. I copied these 5 folders to SD Card on my computer and, as mentioned in Martin's Getting Started Guide, I did not touch the EEPROM and FIRMWARE folders. Ian.
