  1. On my 46inch Spitifre I used 18g/m2 cloth and Water Based Polyurethane varnish. As others have said it wasn't as strong as Epoxy but coats dried quickly with little smell and no mixing. Brushes just washed with water. I did find that when i painted it Humbrol sprays would peel off. In the end i used Halfords plastic primer spray all over. This was also a near enough match (for me) for the grey and then i sprayed the Humbrol green onto this in only the areas i wanted and it worked great. See my pics.
  2. The little black bits go inside the lip of the cockpit against the backwall. This thickens the lip so you have something to screw into if you screw the canopy on. One screw front and back and then one screw either side into these blocks. Took me ages to figure it out.
  3. i have often wondered the same. I have contemplated carrying a small low wing model straped to bungees that some backpacks have on the front. If its low wing the belly would got against the bag and the fuse and tailplane would stick out. Dav
  4. When drilling holes into a rudder or tail plane is there anyway of working out how much you can safely remove without weakening the structure or is it a case of trial and error. Dav
  5. On the ARTF version of the Acro Wot there is a wood plate/block already glued to the firewall that has the side thrust planed/sanded into it. Dav
  6. Good work BEB. Good to see it back in a more family friendly version. I was amazed the first time i saw it. Dave
  7. Which way did you want them to fold. If it was wheel forward it should be fine as the force would keep it in the open position.
  8. I would use the standard retracts but turn the strut through 90 degress in the casing, before mounting the retract farcing forwards or backwards. Dave
  9. Hi James It depends what you are after. On most Transmitters 0 to 50% is rate mode and 51 to 100% is head holding mode. So if you set 100% on the transmitter you will have 100% of head holding. If you set the transmitter to 75% you would have 50% head holding. In short below 50% rate mode, above 50% head holding. Hope this makes sense. Dave
  10. Up and down in one piece. Well done a excellent looking model.
  11. Try again Rick. I emailed them as I had the same problem and they sent me a new CD key. Dave
  12. They are the connectors between the battery and speed controller. Dave
  13. Would you look at that, my little question turning into a poll. Should get a far bigger response from a poll. Dave
  14. Hi All I just wanted to see what battery connectors people use and why? Dave
  15. I'm with Dale on this one. I think this is going to be my winter project.
  16. Another excellent suggestion, time for a bit of investigating.
  17. That should work, thanks Pete. I knew someone on here would have an answer. Thanks again.
  18. Can anyone help? I am after a m1.7 x 8mm screw/bolt. I have searched the internet and so far have found nothing. If the length is too long it isn't a problem. Dave
  19. Well said BEB, as someone who works with teenagers, I'm glad to hear someone standing up for the vast majority of decend young people who get a bad reputation because of the few. Dave
  20. Hi All I have seen a lot of talk about people making their own spinners by Vaccum Forming. I have access to a machine and know how to use it but my questions are: What material do people use for the backplate? How do you attach the plastic spinner to the backplate? Dave
  21. Excellent, that's the answer that I was hoping for. Also for any people out there in my situation, bmfa have reduced their fees.
  22. Hi All Is it possible to join and pay the BMFA over the phone? If so does the cover start immediately? Dave
  23. Obviously wood isn't going to be as durable as other materials, but how resiliant did you find them. Dave
  24. Hi All Has anyone had any experience with these Turnigy Wooden Props? Dave
