    Although I am a big fan of laminating film Iv'e covered my bf110 in brown paper, bf109 and spitfire in lightweight fibreglass cloth with an epoxy finish which is my preferred finish on Richard's warbirds..

    Thanks Martin, would it be safe then to connect a 13.2v supply direct to a 12v battery and then the heater to the battery as well, or does it need to be a proper regulated charger.?

    I have got mine working after a bit of refitting of components. (the outlet tube from the pump was bent at 90 degrees and so fuel was able to get through to the chamber. What a difference, workshop ready to use in 10 minutes (very toastie.) Very little has be said about 12v power supplies. I have a 13.2v old server power supply which will deliver 50+ amps but afraid to use it as we are prone to the odd power outage. Is it best to use a leisure battery or an ordinary car battery. Is it ok to connect a intelligent battery charger to the battery whilst using the heater(ie. will it keep the battery charged whilst using it.) What I could do with is an automatic changeover for when we have a power glitch. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

    I ordered mine on Tuesday and it arrived today. Unfortunately manual not for this heater. This one appears to be fully remote. The remote is not featured in the manual either. I may need some suggestions once I get it set up with fuel etc.

    Thank you all for your help. I have ordered one off eBay. Anything has to be better than my small oil filed heater. Still thinking about installation and how to exit exhaust. I’m sure it will get sorted.

    Thank you. My w/s is a std garage. the walls are insulated with 50mm celutex then plasterboard. the apex roof has been insulated with the modern 1" thick foam that they use on modern floors prior to flooring and then clad in upvc cladding. My only problem is exiting the exhaust. I could try drilling through the foam and the precast concrete or filling in one of the small chest height windows with wood or something else. Any help would really be appreciated as I would like to get back into the w/s to do some building during this lockdown period.

    Thanks Martin. I am currently using a 2kw oil filed radiator. It does warm up by w/shop but it takes a couple of hours. I have found some 8kw heaters on eBay, do you think they may do the job?

    Advice needed. I have read through this thread and am interested in getting a heater for my workshop which is a well insulated precast concrete garage(no garage door, just normal side door).around 17'x10' It seems that they are not stock items so looking aroundI came across Planar heaters and spoke with the stockiest. It seems that they feel their heaters would be unsuitable for the job in hand, that they would not be powerful enough It was a 4kw version. Is there a chinese one that will do the job.     Geoff, Could I ask you how you go about designing and drawing your air intakes as I need to print some for a couple of projects. I use fusion360 for simple things such as servo mounts etc.

    Morning Paul and all WR builders,Happy New Year to one and all. Your P51 is coming along nicely,I thought that you may have put the elevator torsion bar inside the fuz or is there not enough room. Is the radiator cowl door able to open and close via servo. that would be cool!!! I have not looked at the building instructions yet, the photos on here makes the flap assembly look a bit complicated along with adjustment for the spar that is too short.From what I can see in the pictures - the laminate covering looks good. Did you manage to get it down without wrinkles?

He did find on open structures that condensation forming inside and between the rib cells was a problem which he overcame with small ventilation holes to allow for drying. I have tried to find his old posts but failed. It probably happened with Solarfilm but being opaque it wasn’t visible. Its good to see that laminating film is being used. The price of normal model film is now just ridiculous (since Solarfilm have gone). It is worth getting to know this material well before using it for real. Yesterday we used some 36micron to add some strength and protection to a friends very light fpv glider leading edge. What a difference. Paul, I like ‘The Office’ on your P51. I am trying to do something similar for the Spit. Unfortunately not much can be done with the bf109 du to it’s constructing method. Did I see a box of celebrations in one of your pictures. Must be a shortage of Haribos due to everybody building during the lockdown.

Again fortunately I have a submersible pump so that together with a wet n dry vac we were able to pump the 3” of water out and had the oak flooring in the worst affected room up and out by 11 am on Christmas Eve. Insurance have been brilliant and we’ve had the emergency drying out team here today installing blowers and dehumidifiers and a virtual loss adjuster’s survey arranged for Thursday. Again, fortune shone on us and no ‘planes were damaged!! In comparison with others in the country we got off lightly. Sorry to hear of misfortune Ron. Glad to hear that your fleet of WR plans survived.
