  1. Got a pair of crimpers, plugs and wire as a deal from rcworld.co.uk this week. Work well once I'd mastered the technique.
  2. Some vouchers for Gliders will see me making some purchases at the weekend. Edited By Gavin Livsey on 25/12/2013 19:24:10
  3. Posted by Peter Miller on 16/06/2013 19:03:26: By the way, I have been told that after further inspections etc it is quite possible that she will fly for anoterh two years If they can find another £400,000!
  4. Posted by Simon Chambers on 07/06/2013 11:11:08: Signed. Does the RAF even have a flying example of the Harrier still? They ought to save a few - otherwise they'll become rather rare like WW2 fighters. After all, it was the Spitfire of the Falklands Campaign... Si. Simon, all were sold to the US Marines for spares. A couple retained for Museums.
  5. Good to see that HK have listened to the customer. I'd be tempted to upgrade mine to the new one, providing they bring out an alternative scheme.
  6. Watched it this afternoon. Very interesting, although don't think the guys and girls stationed at Culdrose will thank John for constantly referring to the station as Culrose.
  7. Phil, Yes it may be that BAe would benefit from continued input. Believe it or not the only common part used in the T.2 is the canopy. It's a completely different beast.
  8. I think that realistically it's only a matter of time before they are forced to stop. Nothing political but more to do with an engineering issue. The RAF are due to cease Hawk T.1 training operations in the not too distant future and although 100 Sqn and Fradu will retain Hawks many are coming to the end of airframe hours. The T.2s which have been bought to replace them in the training role only number just over a couple of dozen aircraft so they will not be available for a dedicated display team. It might be that a smaller team could operate using turboprops. Problem is that Tucano won't be lasting too much longer either and, again, its replacement will be far fewer in number.
  9. Well, my P-51 looks the nuts. The fibreglass fuz is very good. Unfortunately, it was let down by the very poor fittings. Most were replaced. It is supposed to have an internal elevator joiner/control horn which failed before I had flown it and I've had to set up a standard style set up with a control rod. It is currently under repair after one of the retract mounts failed, for the second time, in about a dozen flights. Think that the last word is that I would have been very miffed if I had bought it myself. It was a birthday present so therefore I have put up with many of the problems.
  10. Guys, it is actually ESM. YT International sell them. I have the 120 size P-51.
  11. Mark, can't comment about the plan packs supplied by Traplet as I've never tried one, and as I said in the post Falcon Aviation have the model listed in their extensive list of available CNC parts. So I suppose the question should really be does anyone out there have any experience of parts supplied by Falcon?
  12. Hi Been looking for a decent sized A-10 to build and have got the plans from Traplet. Looks like Falcon Aviation can do CNC parts, which is nice! Anyone built one? Very little comes up when I google it except a short vid on YouTube from a few years ago. Hopefully, build blog will follow.....
  13. None of the options apply. I've always loved planes, full size or models.
  14. Flyeruk, Glad you like her. Mine's a red one and looks great in any sky. Haven't suffered from the dreaded paint peel as reported by many on the various forums. Have had over forty flights with mine with just a little flacking off on the underside. A word of warning regarding going to 4s. A club mate upgraded his and the motor lasted about a minute before he had a nice smoke trail! Think you'd need to upgrade fan, motor and esc.
  15. I've flown mine in a fair old blow and it handled it much better than I would have imagined. Happiest below 10mph though. I'd always test fly something that is hand launched when there's a bit of a breeze, gives you a head start. Just checked the throws and I've got 1.5cm each way on ailerons and 2cm on elevators. Have about 30% expo.
  16. Flyeruk, Seem to remember CoG was set to recommended position. Probably a tad nose heavy but nothing I can't live with. As for launching, it goes away well at full throttle. I hold using the holes underneath with my thumb just hooked around the intake to keep it steady. A good shove and she's off. Never had a hairy moment on launching.
  17. I've had one for several months. Excellent for the money. Not the fastest but fast enough to make it fun. Use a 2200 3s lipo rather than the recommended size. This will give about four and a half minutes at full chat. As supplied the throws are way off so dial the movements down. No other advice needed. Have fun!
  18. "Short Finals" is a much better use of the back page. Never really thought that the old back page picture feature was a good use of a page, other than to boost the presence of a certain columnist.
  19. But why spoil it with the pseudo Thunderbirds scheme?
  20. DW Opto Kill Switch. I tried the SM Services one but found the Just Engines one to be easier to fit because it's already got the necessary plugs on all the wires.
  21. DW Must really be able to swith off via your radio. My petrol model uses the unit supplied by Just Engines plugged to a spare chanel and operated via one of the switches on my 7c. Easy.
  22. Phil   DB Sport and Scale do a Jodel although I don't think it's exactly the same variant that you flew in.Edited By Gavin Livsey on 25/02/2011 20:56:38
  23. Tim/BEB,   Thanks, as usual what you say makes sense.   I was having similar thoughts regarding the amount of juice taken out of an RX pack the other week as, having just replaced some standard 700mah packs with ones of double the capacity during my winter maintenance programme, I noticed that even after a very busy flying session I was only putting less than 200mah back in.   Just as well because I have just returned from my LMS having requested a heavy duty switch to find that they've actually sold me a standard one, albeit a Futaba branded one. I'll stick with this.   Thanks again Gavin
