  1. I have a collection of vintage Airfix kits that I have bought over the years, mostly aircraft kits, unopened and in good condition. They range from the 1950's to mid 1970's, I guess I have 200+ kits in total. The artwork on the boxes and bags is stunning and should be out on show but sadly all have been packed in boxes away from harm. I do wonder what will become of them, my son is of the Playstation era and has never made or wanted to make an Airfix kit or any other plastic kit come to that (sad). I should amagin they will all end up going up in flames like so many have in the past or as landfill. Nev.
  2. Hi Martin and welcome, I started with an electric powered plane 3 years ago and now have several. It's not what powers your planes that's overly important it's the enjoyment and satisfaction of seeing your pride and joy where it belongs and getting it to stay there Enjoy. Nev.
  3. Another vote for Zap . I have tried a much cheaper brand (not listed) but when It dried it was yellow coloured and felt slightly waxy, never again Edited By Racing Snake on 23/01/2014 15:32:14
  4. I can't get on to Model Fixings website, does anyone know of any problems? Nev.
  5. Thanks for the session, sorry I was so late. Hope you managed to fix your lead. Nev.
  6. Just in case someone else should need to know, I've found the Oracover colours used for the trim lines on the Grob Tutor are Sky Blue (53) and Dark Blue (52). Nev.
  7. Hi Andy and Happy New Year, As I only put together ARTF planes, I shall be watching with interest the art of balsa bashing . Nev.
  8. Can someone please tell me what Oracover colours are used for the trim lines down the fuselage of the Seagull Grob Tutor? Nev.
  9. Best wishes to you all for a Happy New Year

  11. Thanks to our son buying his mother a Kindle for Xmas and his mother and I a Tassimo drinks maker, I had the thankless task of registering the Kindle, downloading the first book and preparing the Tassimo for it's first use . Now don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful to our son for his generosity and I do love a nice gadget, but, I hate reading instruction manuals only to find they are confusing at best or just totally wrong (that' my excuse anyway). I find advancing years and instruction manuals just don't get on. Then, I had to show my wife how they work, not that she couldn't work it out for herself, it's just easier if I pull my hair out first. Thankfully I'm now being left alone to tinker with my Grob Tutor Nev. P.S. My son very kindly bought me a trial flying lesson, so it's not all that bad .
  12. That's a great help David, thankyou. I shall set mine at 125mm also. My Grob Tutors conversion box allows 125mm max from firewall to prop driver back plate when I use the Turnigy G46, just like David's with the E-Flite motor. The manual says the gap should be 135mm which I think is too big as it leaves very little overlap of the cowl and firewall. 13. Hi Simon, This is, I'm sure, the last thing you need especially at this special time of year. I wish you well. Nev.
  14. Thanks Mike, I think I will have to adjust the cowl to get the best line up of the blue stripes and see what measurement that gives me, I can adjust between 110/125mm. Hi Terry, I too have changed the instrument panel, repainted the pilots, adjusted the seat high (copied Mark G) and added nav lights. I hope to put some photos on soon. Nev.
  15. I have decided to make my Grob Tutor electric powered, I'm using a Turnigy G46 motor. In the manual it states that the prop driver back plate should be 135mm from the firewall but the most I can make it using the supplied electric box is 125mm. Should I put a 10mm spacer between the firewall and electric box or is 125mm ok? Nev. P,S, It looks better at 110mm which is stated if IC were to be used  Edited By Racing Snake on 20/12/2013 14:13:25
  16. Have a very Merry Christmas everyone and happy 2014
  17. I'm left handed, and yes I'm creative, I create a headache every time I try to program a computorized Tx , its an age thing.
  18. For me 2013 has been a year of two halves. I got off to a good start flying a Phoenix 2000 powered glider for the first time with key fob camera attached, had some great shots. I also brought a Acro Wot foam-e and had many enjoyable hours flying that. My Seagull Harmon rocket and BH Renegade were also having a good airing and I felt the time was close to maiden my Seagull Zlin. Then, I had intermittent trouble with my car making it to risky to park in the middle of nowhere, bad weather every time I was off work and had the chance to fly and now I'm under the weather and off work with abdominal pains, so the second half of the year has been a bit of a flop. With time off work I hope to finish off my Seagull Grob Tutor, depends on how I feel. Next year I want to maiden my Zlin and Grob tutor, get a lot more flying in and talk the Mrs into buying me a turbine.
  19. Hi RW, The L-shaped piece of foam in the DX8 box is used for packing the battery compartment when using lipo batteries, I guess it has the same use in the DX9. Nev.
  20. Just got back from Barnsley and there on the door mat was my mag, it took me a little by surprise as I wasn't expecting it just yet. I was in Barnsley to attend Wren Turbines open day. A big thank you has to go to Mike and the team for a very interesting visit. Nev.
