Just in case anyone wants to put names to faces - I can do most of these but not all I'm afraid! So from the left; yours-truely, Erfolg, Andy Green, VA, Phil Winks, Woolston Flyer (with his two little-uns in front), I'm afraid I don't know/can't remember!, (sorry!) Chris Bott and Steve Hargreaves. BEB Hi BEB, That's me third from right, Nev Haycox, A.K.A. Racing Snake (RS is from my cycling days). Sorry for not recognising you, you look nothing like your avatar. I got talking to Andy Green just after the photo was taken and before I knew it you had all dispersed and the chance for introduction had gone. I only wish people had name badges so I could recognise them from the forum, perhape we could have forum badges made up to identify forumites on such occasions. Never mind I'm sure I will recognise more people each year if I study these photos See you next year. Nev.
  2. Mine dropped through the door just as I was leaving for greenacres. Plenty of brave pilots flying in strong winds and blustery showers. Nev
  3. Cheers Pete, I'll check that out, Thanks for your help. Nev.
  4. If I lose link with my glider I want to put in some rudder command to limit its travel. When binding with a bind plug you have to remove the plug (once the receiver blinks indicating bind mode) before binding the transmitter to the receiver. When binding using the TM1000 module the modules LED blinks also, so I guess I can't remove it from the receiver. This allows me to set for Hold Last Command but not Preset Failsafe. Can someone please tell me if it's possible to set up Preset Failsafe with the Spektrum TM1000 telemetry module, and if so how? Thanks in advance, Nev.
  5. Hi Allan, I'm not selfish or anything, but, if your club has a Fun Fly Day 2013 please try to avoid the 20th September, I'm away that weekend and don't want to miss out on the doughnuts Nev.
  6. Hi Darren and welcome to the forum, If you have any questions just ask, there's always someone here that will help. Enjoy. Nev.
  7. Happy Birthday David, Have a great day Nev.
  8. Hi CC, Yes I bought one recently and it works here is the link to the seller. This one has the wide angle D (120 degree) lens. Check the sellers other items, he has cameras with A and B lens also, Nev. Edited By Racing Snake on 10/06/2013 19:34:19
  9. At the moment definitely a flyer but I hope to attempt to build something in the future that vaguely resembles an aircraft Nev.
  10. Just recently ...............stall turns, but to be fair they are more like wingovers, and that's the good ones Nev.
  11. Nice, very nice, very very nice................and there's me worried about maidening my Zlin Nev.
  12. Hi kevo ,My third rc plane was a Habu Mk1 that Frank above speaks of. I found it relatively easy to fly after my trainer and Blackhorse Renegade and is still going strong, 5* for me. I believe the Mk2 has the option of retracts. Nev.
  13. Hi Mark and welcome to the forum, Feel free to ask any questions you may have, I have found that the members here have or will help find the answer to most queries. Enjoy, Nev.
  14. Well done Jez, I can totally relate to how you feel after all that time dreaming. I maidened my first rc plane two years ago and have now maidened seven and have only lost one which I still think was a tx fault. I, like yourself always wanted to fly rc planes but somehow never got round to it, but after my first successful model flight two years ago I haven't looked back since and have enjoyed every minute of my journey. I wish you more happy landings, Nev.
  15. Hi Chris and welcome back to the forum. If you have any questions just ask, someone here will have the answer. Nev.
  16. I've booked the two days off work so all being well I'll be there. I have passed my A test but I'm sure I'll find it rather daunting to fly in front of all those highly experenced pilots, but what the heck I'll have to have a go. See you there. Nev.
  17. Thanks to all for all the advise, I have loads to work with and look forward to putting it to use.in the near future. Regards Nev.
  18. Hi Chris, I have a DX8 and have recently added the glider software. I'm still learning what the tx can do, as for gliding software, well I have the glider on the plane software at the moment but will look to change over just as soon as I can get my head round all this mixing business, I have fitted flap servos so I'm hoping to get out again soon as I hadn't dialed in enough down elevator for the maiden so the landind was a bit of a rollercoaster
  19. Sorry Phil, I have just maidened my Phoenix 2000 which is a powered glider. I will be flying it mainly (at the moment) at the club field. Cheers, Nev.
  20. Hi Paul, That a nice looking trainer. I like Seagull models I have three myself Waiting projects! well for me it's a Seagull Grob Tutor but this will have to wait till later in the year as I've just maidened my Harmon rocket and Phoenix 2000. I have a Zlin ready to go just as soon as I feel confident to fly it so I need to concentrate on flying and leave new projects untill Autumn/winter. Enjoy, Nev.
  21. Being new to gliding has got me wondering. To trim for yaw and roll is pretty obvious but what’s the best way to trim for pitch. With a powered plane I set the throttle between half and two thirds in level flight and trim, but how do you do it with a glider? I’m thinking too much up and it will keep stalling too little and you lose unnecessary height, so is it trial and error or is there a particular way! I do hope this isn't an idiots question Thanks in advance, Nev.
  22. Maidened my Phoenix yesterday and all went reasonably well. This is the first glider I have flown and was well impressed. The only problem I had was I’d set it up with flaps but hadn't dialled in enough down elevator so the landing was a bit of a rollercoaster. Being new to gliding however I have a question. To trim for yaw and roll is pretty obvious but what’s the best way to trim for pitch. 23. That's got to be the ultimate hand/eye coordination test.
  24. I for one think a r/c flight sim is essential for learing to fly helicopters if learning alone. Having not been in the hobby that long I would be interested to know how novices learnt to fly helis before flight sims came along. There must have been some really patience instructors and beginners with deep pockets Nev.
